So the BBC apparently pays £6m per series of the show to Love Productions the makers of Bake Off – Channel 4 have topped that and are allegedly stumping up £75m for three series – that’s £25,000,000 big ones – a cool £19 mil more per series. That’s a lot of dough… sorry couldn’t help it.

HUH? – and wait there’s more – ITV and Netflix reportedly offered more than C4 – but the programme makers thought there was more creative synergy with the Born Risky channel.

Do you think it’s worth it?

  • So Italy just made public masturbation legal

So Italy just made public masturbation legal

Italian courts have just ruled that masturbation in public is legal – unless it’s done in the presence of minors.

    Peep Show Wanker

The Supreme Court of Cassation (Italian: La Corte Suprema di Cassazione) in Italy has ruled that getting yourself off in public is not illegal unless it’s done in front of minors.

The case came about because a 69-year-old man was caught red handed in Catania pulling his pork on the University of Catania campus and he was convicted in May 2015.

Originally he was sentenced to 3 months in prison and fined €3,200.

However in light of a law change last year, which makes public masturbation a crime only if a minor witnesses it, the court overturned his sentence.

According to CNN “Judges ruled that public masturbation out of the presence of minors is no longer deemed criminal conduct due to a change in the law last year, which decriminalized the act.”

The American star Alexis Arquette has died after a “lengthy illness” and surrounded by her family. She was 47-years-old. Her passing was announced on a Facebook update posted by her brother Richmond Arquette.

    The statement read:

“Alexis was born as Robert, our brother. We loved him the moment he arrived. But he came in as more than a sibling — he came as our great teacher. As Alexis transitioned into being a woman, she taught us tolerance and acceptance. As she moved through her process, she became our sister, teaching us what real love is,” she wrote. “We learned what real bravery is through watching her journey of living as a trans woman. We came to discover the one truth -— that love is everything.

Surrounded by family, David Bowie’s ‘Starman’ was playing as she passed away. The cause of death has not yet been made public.

Alexis Arquette starred in many films and started her career when she was 12. Credited as Robert Arquette she starred in Bride of Chucky, Of Mice and Men and The Wedding Singer.

She began her public transition in 2007 when she produced a documentary called Alexis Arquette: She’s My Brother.

Stars and celebrities have been paying tribute to Arquette – including Boy George who wrote,

R.I.P my sister Alexis Arquette. Another bright light gone out far too soon. Love to the family and all that loved Alexis.

Lucy Lawless wrote that she was “heartsore”

“I am so heartsore to hear of the passing of a darling friend, Beautiful Shine On! Loved by many, Loved by me.”

  • This man wants a separate country for gay people

On one hand, it’s a terribly frightening concept – an entire country of gays and lesbians, separated from the rest of society, no mixing with our hetero counterparts… On the other hand it does sound like Kiosk 7 in Gran Canaria.

So there’s a gay separatist organisation called the Gay Homeland Foundation and they’re advocating for a gay-only country. Apparently, to them it’s the only way to end the marginalisation of gay culture and ensuring that millions of LGBTs who live in dangerous parts of the planet would have a safe haven.

Speaking to Vice.com the foundation’s executive officer Viktor Zimmerman said that bringing thousands, perhaps millions of gay people together in one place would release “tremendous energy” – and that we could be living in a “creative and affirmative environment” if gay people had their very own homeland.

He also said that he wanted to establish a free, independent and democratic gay state that would “promote their economic, cultural and political development.”

Speaking more about his plans Zimmerman said, that having such an independent state was important as we shouldn’t forget that the rights and equality that we enjoy could be taken away from us.

“We also need to remember that human rights can be taken away as easily as they were granted. All the progress in gay rights that has been achieved has only taken place in the context of liberal democracies, and it has been a very difficult process that is still unfinished”

Oh it’d be cheap and by the seaside.

So what do you think folks – a gay-only country – would you live there?

  • Gay couple threatened with the “gas chamber” after viral boyfriend video

A gay couple has received a number of death threats after their boyfriend video went viral in their home country of Poland.

The video of Jacob and David singing along to Some Other Summer by Roxette went viral after it was first shared by THEGAYUK. However it wasn’t until the story was picked up in their native Poland that the negative comments started to flood in.

The pair has been told that their throats should be slit and that they should be sent to the gas chamber. The comments have left the boyfriends “devastated” especially after the reception from the UK and US had been so positive.

Writing to THEGAYUK David and Jacob said,

“Everything changed when (the) Polish media found the story. It appeared on several Polish sites and people reaction was totally different.

“We knew that Polish society is very Catholic and conservative but we still expected that they would be proud of us and our job.

    “We were wrong”.

The boyfriends were subjected to a slew of negative and homophobic comments. In the video, the couple is seen dancing with each other and playing around the sea’s surf.

There were some positive comments, but most of them were very homophobic and aggressive.

“We read comments like: “‘You should be ashamed of you(rself)’, ‘I’ll cut your throats if I ever meet you’  and ‘You should be send to a gas chamber’, we were really devastated.”

The video has now surpassed over 200,000 videos on YouTube.

The Jakub and David revealed that they had considered taking the video down but decided to face down their bullies saying,

“In UK  I learned to be proud of being gay and didn’t want to change it so we finally came to the conclusion that if we did it we would have let them win so we decided not to give up and spread our story all around.”

The band behind the song, Roxette have also lent their support to the video telling their fans that “Love is Love”.

  • Muriel’s Wedding To Be Made Into Stage Show

Muriel’s Wedding To Be Made Into Stage Show

That’s right folks, “You can’t stop progress” as Muriel’s Wedding is to be made into a new musical stage show adapted to stage by, “What a coincidence”, it’s the original film’s writer and director PJ Hogan.

© Sydney Theatre Company / Global Creatures
© Sydney Theatre Company / Global Creatures

The show will feature all those much loved ABBA numbers whilst both the script and Muriel herself will be re-set in 2017. Will marriage be easier to find in this new world of social media and app dating?

Speaking to AussieTheatre.com.au PJ Hogan said, “I’ve been asked many times to put Muriel’s Wedding on stage and I’ve always said no – mainly because the film seemed to do what I wanted it to do, and has somehow resisted the obscurity that time and changing fashions are apt to visit upon everything and everyone. So why tempt fate and invite Muriel (and a singing Muriel, at that) to cavort in 2017?

“Back in 1994 Muriel had a problem that seemed peculiar to her… how do you become famous (that is loved/admired/envied by all) when you have no discernible talent, no achievements, and when no one believes in you except you? The new millennium has provided the tools for dreamers afflicted by obscurity: Twitter, FaceBook, Instagram, You Tube, not to mention that Hogwarts for the irrelevant, Reality TV.

“Muriel was born to be a Millennial. So a Millennial she has become. Who sings.”

Sadly the tickets prices may be a little ‘sky-high’ for us Brits as the world premier takes place at the Roslyn Packer Theatre, Sydney, Australia. Though fingers are crossed for a speedy export to the UK.

If you are travelling out there next year from the 20th Nov – 30th Dec 2017, then you can pre-book tickets at: SydneyTheatre.com.au

  • Australia still hasn’t equalised the age of consent for gay men

Australia still hasn’t equalised the age of consent for gay men

It might surprise you to know that Australia still hasn’t equalized the age of consent for gay males in all its territories.

Australia is still lagging behind in terms of equality for gay and bisexual men. Not only is same-sex marriage still not available for couples but the age of consent is higher for gay or bisexual men who want to have penetrative sex. More accurately anal sex in some territories attracts a higher age of consent, despite the fact that the age of consent for vaginal or oral sex being equal across the country.

The age of consent for heterosexual and homosexual couples is 16 except in Queensland where the age of consent for male on male penetrative sex is 18. This law is also applied to heterosexual couples who may want to have anal sex too.

Vaginal and oral sex is legal from the age of 16 – regardless of sexuality,  the penalty if you break this law is 14 years in jail.

Homosexuality was made legal across the country in 1994. However Queensland, the Northern Territory and South Australia still lag behind in many areas of equality with no provision in law for civil partnerships or adoption rights for LGBTs in those territories.

The Queensland parliamentary committee have now recommended that the sexual age of consent be standardised and the word “sodomy” be removed from the territory’s criminal code. The committee have suggested that the word “sodomy” be replaced with the term “anal intercourse”.

  • Twitter suspends popular gay porn news site

Twitter has suspended the account of a popular gay porn news site.

Twitter has seemingly suspended the account of St8UpGayPorn.com and has yet to reply to calls for an explanation from the website’s editor Zachary Sire.

The editor claims, via a post on the site,  that neither he or any of the people who tweet from the website’s Twitter account have violated any of Twitter’s terms of service.

Writing on the website, Sire said,

“The inexplicable suspension could’ve happened for any reason, and after nearly 48 hours, Twitter has yet to provide Str8UpGayPorn or any of the account’s 30,000 followers with an explanation as to why the account was suspended.

“Multiple inquiries and appeals have been made to Twitter to have the account un-suspended, and this should be resolved before the end of the week. Even when and if the account is un-suspended, this incident serves as a good reminder that Twitter’s so-called rules are arbitrarily enforced, and anyone can be suspended at any time, fair or not.”

The site, which reports on news from the gay porn industry, has in the past come under criticism for some of the stories and the way in which it reports on various individuals, however has a legion of fans who reacted to the news with shock.
