The UK’s magazine business isn’t what it used to be but there are few LGBT magazines in circulation.
It goes without saying the two main print competitors for the male gay market are Attitude and Gay Times.
Gay Times is the oldest of the two and is independently owned by a new owner, James Frost. Attitude started life as a magazine created by the publishing giant and Richard Desmond-owned Northern And Shell.
Winq is a relative newcomer to the UK market, although it is a much bigger brand in mainland Europe, but has been swallowed up by Attitude – and the two will be merged into one, bigger magazine.
There are a number of regional magazines including the two London weeklies, Boyz and QX Magazine. These titles focus mainly on listings and bar/scene news. There is also the free sexual magazine produced by GMFA called FS.
In Scotland, there is ScotsGay. In the Midlands, there is Midland Zone.
For lesbian media, there is only one magazine – Diva, which is printed month.
Online wise, THEGAYUK is the UK’s biggest listings, lifestyle and social independently owned brand. Combining a social media network along with its editorial and free listings.
News sites include PinkNews – which is by far large the biggest in terms of hits, followed by GayStarNews. There is also OutNews, SoSoGay and Vada Magazine.
Previously the UK had a number of national magazines, which have since become defunct. There was AXM, Bent (although an online shop still exists), Fluid, G3, Out In The City and The Pink Paper, just to name a few.
They’ve released a number of albums and pop up on our TV screens a lot. So are they worth a lot of money?
The brothers had a combined net worth reported to be in the region of €6 million. That was reported in 2013.
Of course, it’s impossible to know exactly how much they’re worth. In 2016 it was reported that their entertainment company Planet Jedward was in debt to the tune of hundreds of thousands of euros. However new figures released about their company show that the boys have a cash balance of over €22,000 and assets worth over €230,000. The company is apparently worth €64,000.
It has been suggested that they are the fifth most financially successful X Factor finalists after Leona Lewis, Little Mix, JLS and Alexandra Burke.
You may have noticed that former X Factor star is now appearing in the Postcode Lottery adverts, we recently spoke to him about how he came out and why he’s no good at one night stands.
He told us that he first knew he was gay from the age of eight but came out to his parents when he was 17-years-old.
So what does he look for in a date?
He told us that he’s not into one night stands, he said, “I cannot do one night stands. I’m particularly sh*tty at doing that.
“I cannot just randomly hook up with people. I have to actually know them and know their middle name, and know what school they went to and how many brothers and sisters they have. It’s just f**king stupid stuff. I think I can name every single person I’ve ever slept with. Their surname and what their dog is called. Just because I need to have a background on people. I cannot just sleep with weird people.”
Here’s a list of businesses which have publicly pulled their advertising spend from the Daily Mail or Mail Online
In 2016 Legoannounced that it would no longer advertise saying that they were “not planning any future promotional activity with the newspaper”. It was one of the first large brands to pull away from the right-wing press.
The Body Shop ended their advertising contracts saying to Buzzfeed, “We have always supported human rights – it is part of our ‘enrich not exploit commitment’ – and when an editorial stance seems to go against that Commitment, we consider seriously whether we will support it.”
In September Online fashion store JOYsaid that they would end an online advertising agreement with DM and the Daily Express, saying, “It was recently brought to our attention by @StopFundingHate that our ads were appearing next to transphobic and racist articles… JOY is a brand that pride themselves on diversity and inclusion, and we would never want to associate ourselves with these viewpoints. From now on we will be monitoring our ad placements much more closely…”

Is Dan Wootton gay?
Yes, folks, Dan Wootton is in fact gay.
The 33-year-old journalist took to Twitter in December 2013 to announce that he was gay and pro-equality. He said, “I’m gay and I believe in equality in every way. If the media hides gay relationships then how will they ever be normalised?”. He’s one of mainstream journalism’s most prominent openly gay editors and reporters. He has attracted a fair bit of criticism from the LGBT community because of the way that he has tackled certain subjects.
As far as we know, Dan Wootton is not married and he’s not publicly disclosed if he has a boyfriend. We did put out a request, but he’s not answered yet!
Where is Dan Wootton from?
Have you detected an accent from Dan Wootton? That soft lilt in his voice is a New Zealand accent, not Austrailian as some people mistake. He was born in Lower Hutt, which is a city in the Wellington Region of the Northern Island. He moved to the UK when he was 21.

Lilly Allen threw some shade when she Tweeted, “@danwootton *rolls eyes and wonders if you ever think about why you hate young girls so much* one for your shrink perhaps?”
Dan also faced a huge backlash after his report on Charlie Sheen’s HIV as “Hollywood HIV panic” was seen as an “insidious piece of stigma-reinforcing ‘journalism’” by Tom Hayes writing for the Independent in November 2015. Dan Wootton clarified that the startling headline of the piece was not his work.

Firstly, we have to point out that in Bermuda it is legal to gay and lesbian. However, LGBT+ residents and visitors may still find that the people and its governance are still quite conservative.
It is illegal to discriminate on the basis of sexuality in Bermuda, but not on the basis of gender identity.
When Bermudan people were given a referendum on the issue of same-sex marriage, it was overwhelmingly voted against.
So is it safe for LGBT+ people to travel and visit Bermuda? By and large yes, although due to its conservative nature, LGBT+ people might find it uncomfortable to show public displays of affection.
Crime rates against LGBT+ people seem to be low.
Please note, there is not an equal age of consent – and the law is different to the UK for gay and bisexual males. Gay and bisexual men must be older than 18-years-old.
The UK Government’s travel advice for LGBT+ people says, “Homosexuality became legal under Bermuda law in 1994, and in 2017 the Supreme Court of Bermuda ruled that same-sex couples have a legal right to marry (now out of date). Attitudes to homosexuality are tolerant but conservative, and some people may not approve of public displays of affection between same-sex couples. See our information and advice page for the LGBT community before you travel.”
In our opinion, yes it is safe to travel to Bermuda if you’re lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.
With The Voice UK starting up again, the questions surrounding the star’s love life have started to emerge and people are interested to know if will i am is married or not.
Will.i.am is extraordinarily private about his love life and has complained that he’s too busy with work to find love. So it’s difficult to determine his sexuality or whether he is in a relationship with anyone.
What we do know is, is that Will I Am is very pro-LGBT. He has spoken up for gay rights in the past. He was pro-gay marriage saying, “People should be able to marry and be with who they want, and let’s focus on the real issues… which are education, health and the things that kill people.”
He once released a song which included lyrics about same-sex love. He said, “That song is for all types of people… People have been showing love.”
Andi Peters is a stalwart of daytime TV and regularly makes appearances on This Morning.
Born in 1970 Andi Eleazu Peters became the face of kids TV back in the early to mid-90s when he was in charge of CBBC’s Broom cupboard and presented Live And Kicking on Saturday mornings.
Since then, Andi has rarely been off our screens, having appeared on Dancing On Ice and Celebrity Master Chef as well being the voiceover artist for The Big Reunion. He can be found, most mornings promoting competitions on ITV and hosting the Hub slot. He also has produced television programmes, including BBC’s Top Of The Pops.
Andi has always maintained a certain level of privacy when it comes to his love life and as far as we know, Andi Peter is not married or ever had a wedding. Despite this, thousands of people search the web to find out whether he has a partner or whether he is married.
In fact, he has joked about being single. In a Tweet sent in 2015, he published a picture which read,
There is now a K to add to the ever-growing LGBT+ acronym – and apparently, it stands for “kink”. The acronym which has grown since the 90s, out of a need to move away from the limiting “gay community” adds letters to encompass any community that defines itself as anything but heterosexual or cisgender.
The LGBT initialism was coined in the late 80s / early 90s.
So what do all the letters mean?
L – lesbian
G – gay
B – bisexual
T – transgender
Q – queer
Q – questioning
I – intersex
A – asexual
A – agender
A – ally
C – curious
P – pansexual
P – polysexual
F – friends and family
2 – two-spirit
K – kink
However, the addition of the K has been met with some reservation from many on the question website, Quora. Users were quick to dismiss Kink as part of the LGBT+ community.
Sarah remarked, “Call me old-fashioned, but I don’t believe that fetishes belong in the same acronym as sexualities and gender identity”.
While Caitlin added, “However, I and others believe that it shouldn’t be included in the acronym. Kink is not inherently non-cis or non-straight, and including it can feed into the stereotype of queer people being “sexual deviants”. BDSM is fine in a community of its own but it’s strange and unnecessary to include it with sexual orientations and gender identities”.
John wrote, “I’m gay, and I do not and will not use this silly LGBTQLAPK sh*t. They keep adding a silly letter for inclusion. You are just labelling yourselves, and that is a silly thing to do.”
*This article has been updated. We have become aware that this article has been used to undermine and denigrate the LGBT+ community.
AlthoughKink can form a part of someone’s sexual identity, is not limited to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, asexual or transgender (or gender non-conforming) experience.
