Two Conservative MPs have blasted a move by the NHS in Lancashire, in which a non-mandatory questionnaire was sent to year six pupils asking what they felt about their gender.

MP Tim Loughton, who was the Children’s Minister until 2012, blasted the questionnaire saying that questioning children’s thoughts on their own gender identity was “unsettling” and “deeply destabilising”.

In the survey, pupils were asked if “feel the same inside” as the gender they were assigned a birth – and then asked whether they considered themselves a boy, girl or other options.

Loughton, according to TheyWorkForYou.com has a long history in voting against LGBT+ equality ranging back to 1998.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph about the survey, Loughton said,

“At a time when children are growing up and having to deal with all sorts of challenges of the modern world, now they are being asked to confront their gender, which for many will be unsettling.

“Forcing children to question whether they are the right gender so early on can be deeply destabilising.”

Children not forced to answer optional questionnaire

THEGAYUK.com reached out to Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust to asked whether the questionnaire in question was forced onto children. A spokesperson responded, “The questionnaire was given out to as part of the Universal School Health Needs programme to assess the health and wellbeing needs of children and young people. Questionnaires are provided at Reception / Year 1, Year 6 and Year 9, and are developed according to reflect the needs of children within these age ranges. Completion of this questionnaire is optional”.

Fellow Conservative MP, Jacob Rees Mogg also criticised the survey saying,

“It is quite intrusive – these are private matters in a family. The problem with this approach is not just with the question but with the intrusive survey that invades people’s privacy and assumes the state has a role in a matter that actually belongs within the family.

“These questions are not likely to be helpful. The child is too young – if they have these sorts of issues, the parents are the right ones to discuss it with, not a state survey.”

    Gender question removed?

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed to THEGAYUK.com that the gender question is under review for future surveys. In a statement they said,

“We are constantly reviewing how to capture sensitive information in relation to the needs of children and young people both through universal screening and more targeted approaches. All questions are in the process of being reviewed as we are moving towards a digital platform instead of the current paper based system.

“We are working with our commissioners, Lancashire County Council, to develop this and there is agreement that more consultation is needed on questions about gender and other sensitive health issues in the assessment.”

  • Unhappy liver? Here’s 7 incredible foods you need this Christmas

Let’s face it, Christmastime can be a real killer for your body.

Foods really good for the liver

No fear here are seven incredible foods to help boost your liver function.

Come the New Year; everyone will be talking about detoxing. Bottles of wine that were stashed in the vegetable drawer of the fridge will be replaced with, well, vegetables! We’ll dust off our blenders, and we’ll be juicing anything green. But what does the term detoxing mean? And can we reverse the effects of our festive indulgences?

The good news is that our liver, the second largest organ (the first being the skin) and the detoxification hub of our bodies, is busy detoxifying all of the time. Even in December! The liver metabolises everything that we eat and are exposed to and detoxifies the entire body’s system from all ingested toxins.

Over the festive period, it is likely that our liver will have to work a little harder than usual, with over-consumption of alcohol, sugar and processed foods. But we can be motivated by the fact that the liver is amazingly regenerative, and through diet, there is a lot we can do to help it. This essentially is what we are aiming to do when we “detox”, and certain foods have powerful liver-boosting effects.

Top 7 foods to boost liver function

    1) Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale. These are all rich in sulphur-containing compounds, which help the liver to detoxify by boosting the production of high levels of detoxifying enzymes.

    2) Garlic is rich in sulphur-containing compounds, and also, contains selenium and allicin- two powerful nutrients that help protect the liver from toxic damage.

    3) Green tea is loaded with catechins, a type of antioxidant (compounds that help the body get rid of harmful free radicals) that have been shown in studies to promote liver function and prevent the accumulation of dangerous fat in the liver

    4) Turmeric, the key component is curcumin, a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory that prevents the liver from damage and can help to regenerate new liver cells. Turmeric also helps to stimulate the production of bile, necessary for the breakdown and processing of fats and proteins from your food, and the removal of waste and toxins.

    5) Bitter greens, such as dandelion, chicory and rocket. The bitterness of these foods helps to stimulate bile flow. They are also high in chlorophyll which plays a role in cleansing the blood and ridding the body of ingested toxins.

    6) Beetroot is bursting with antioxidants and folic acid for detoxification. It also contains betaine, a compound which promotes the regeneration of liver cells.

    7) Avocados are rich in glutathione, the ultimate liver-boosting antioxidant which prevents damage to the liver and aids detoxification.

It really cannot be emphasised enough; loving your liver is one of the most important things that you can do for your health this winter.

  • Andrea Leadsom says she would be “happy” to see gay marriage in Church

Despite abstaining from the same-sex marriage vote, Andrea Leadsom said that she’d be “happy” to see same-sex couples getting married in Churches.

Cabinet Minister, Andrea Leadsom, who ran an unsuccessful bid to become the UK’s Prime Minister in 2016 has said that she would be “happy” to see gay marriage in Churches, despite previously saying that same-sex marriage “harms” Christians.

At a recent event, she addressed her poor voting record on LGBT+ rights, specifically, the Marriage (same-sex couples) Bill in 2013.

Speaking to PinkNews, she said, “My decision [to abstain on the 2013 Marriage (same-sex couples) Bill] related specifically to the legislation around registry offices and churches, and the way in which the Christian faith recognises marriage.

“I have always been clear that I believe the love of same-sex couples is just as important, and indeed equal, as the love of heterosexual couples.

“I would be very happy to see same-sex couples married in a church, but that is a matter for the Church of England.

“I am proud to live in a country that recognises equality for all.”

  • Bake Off’s Tom denies leaked pictures are of him

    Drat.

Leaked pictures which were allegedly of Bake Off‘s Tom Hetherington, have proven not to be his. Taking to his Twitter he denied the pictures were his saying, they couldn’t possibly be of him, because

    1. He doesn’t have a pierced nipple
    2. After a year of baking, he doesn’t have a six-pack
    3. He’d never wear that clothing combination. (sass)

The leaked nude images hit the internet this week but the actual man in the picture has yet to be identified… The pictures showed a headless torso and the all-important crown jewels.

You can, of course, go check out the goods yourself, clearly it’s not going to be SFW

  • People are not happy that Anne Marie Morris is supporting Dogs Trust

Tweet by Anne Marie Morris, supporting Dogs Trust does not go down well with some of the charity’s supporters.

Anti-gay equality MP, Anne Marie Morris, who recently had the whip restored, after using a racial slur, has put her name alongside the charity Dogs Trust – an organisation which aims to “bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction”.

The charity has become well-known in the gay community as it regularly attends LGBT+ prides across the country with its huge inflatable yellow dog often one of the highlights of the parade, and using the opportunity to raise money and awareness for its cause.

Ms Morris voted against same-sex marriage in 2013 and was absent from a number of other votes pertaining to the rights of LGBT+ people in the UK. In July she was suspended from the Conservative party when she used the n-word during a Brexit discussion which was recorded by a journalist in attendance.

    Happy To Support Dogs Trust

In the tweet, which was sent on the 6th December, days, before Morris had the Tory party whip restored Morris wrote, “Happy to support campaign against in Parliament yesterday!”

The tweet was then retweeted by two Dogs Trust Twitter accounts.

    Hypocritical?

Followers of the charity were quick to respond to the photograph.

Speaking to THEGAYUK.com a spokesperson for Dogs Trust said, “Last week Dogs Trust held an annual event at the House of Commons which all MPs are invited to, Anne was one of 98 MPs and peers who attended. Dogs Trust does not have any MP patrons but engages with MPs across all parties all year round on a raft of dog welfare issues and legislation”.

  • 12 guys have real threeway game, we’re impressed

    The game was definitely on.

We asked some of our readers about their three-way experience, needless to say, us gay guys are having a fair bit of threesome activity!

    Diary time

“Every other weekend mostly good occasionally embarrassing” – Tristan

“Have had many 3somes always have a good hot time Have at least once a month” – Phil

    The biting… oh the biting

“…It was with two friends after a night out and I suggested that we had a threesome, however, me and my other friend wasn’t attracted to the other guy yet he wanted to do most of the work. Terrible at giving BJs as he kept biting me and my other friend so in the end we never finished because the thrill sort of speak went…

“At least I found out that I don’t like to be spit roasted.  Plus it was in a caravan outside my parent’s house. So everyone could hear.”- Marcus

    The couple and the unicorn

“It was actually quite fun! My last one was two men who were a couple. Their agreement was that they would never have an open relationship but will have sex with other people when both of them were present at that party. I was tempted to try double penetration but at the end didn’t dare!!!!” – Raha

    Poly relationship…

“Good. It was fun, we all had a laugh, all very open-minded. Cuddled till we fell asleep. Then spent a few months in a poly relationship.” – Ian

“Was horrible, one bloke nice & the other not my type, I was feeling jealous of the nice one all the time, never want that again.” – Michael

    Why stop at 3?

“Yes and every number up to twenty.” – Roger

Oh, the politics of it all…

“Quite a few and I find its better if all 3 are single rather than a couple plus 1 extra” – Simon

“Yes in the past but in a lot of cases 1 person loses out. Not that’s everyone’s experience.” – Norrin

    A&E?

“We ended up in A&E. The position we were in led to an accident, one broken arm, stitches in head and a badly bruised hip. The staff tried not to laugh at us, but they found it funny.” – Simon

    Me party

“Frequently. Me, myself and I.” – Andy

  • Your Comments: Is the term ‘Fag Hag’ offensive?

The term “fag hag” dates back decades and originated from the US, but in 2017 is it now offensive to use?

The term “Fag Hag” is a slang phrase that refers to a woman who hangs around and socialises with mostly gay or bisexual men. These women could be characterised as out-going, camp and very accepting of the gay community – but not always.

Most notable examples of a “fag hag” could be Linda La Hughes in the British sitcom, Gimme Giveme Giveme. US Comedian Margaret Cho has talked in her standup show about being a “fag hag” (but now prefers the term “dick widow” and the legendary performer, Pam Ann has also been described as a “fag hag” by many gay publications.

Some people find the term offensive, whilst others embrace it… Some consider the phrase a term of endearment, but in 2017 does this phrase need to be used?

Over to you – use the comments below to let us know your thoughts. Do you find the term offensive? What other terms could be used instead?

  • Anti-gay equality, N word MP Anne Marie Morris has Tory whip restored

The whip returned to MP Anne Marie Morris.

Conservative MP Anne Marie Morris has had the whip restored after being suspended earlier this year for using the vile racist expression “n***** in the woodpile”.

The MP for Newton Abbot in Devon has apologised for the remark that she made and said that she had,  “learned from the experience”. The BBC reports that she is said to have said that she would, “seek to uphold the highest possible standards in public life”,

    Suspended

The MP for Newton Abbott had been speaking about Brexit where she said,

“Now I’m sure there will be many people who’ll challenge that, but my response and my request is look at the detail, it isn’t all doom and gloom,

“Now we get to the real n***** in the woodpile, which is, in two years, what happens if there is no deal?”

The recording was unearthed by HuffPost who noted that the Brexit-backing MP utter the disgraceful phrase, which has its origins in the late 19th and 20th century, as she described the idea of leaving the EU with no deal.

    Independent MP

During the time in which Morris had the Tory whip removed, she sat in Parliament as an Independent MP – but voted with the government.

In 2013 MP Morris voted against same-sex marriage and was absent from all other votes about the rights of LGBT+ people in the UK.

  • Have you heard of the Rimosa?

    Who wants a sugared rim?

There’s a new kink in town. What happens when you mix a mimosa with a rim job? Apparently, it’s becoming all the rage.

It’s very simple to achieve, you get one Mimosa and you get your BF’s butthole and you put, basically, the two together – and then lick.

Now if you’re sober, you can always try non-alcoholic cocktails. Can we suggest you stay clear of the virgin Bloody Mary’s or anything Bailey’s if you want to keep your sheets acceptable.

To achieve the perfect Rimosa, prop that boy’s butt high up in the air, perhaps with a couple of pillows under his hips. Spread ’em, pour and lick.

With the possibility that post-death organ donation moving to a system of “presumed consent” or “opt out” in the UK, we find out whether gay and bisexual men, who are forbidden to donate blood, unless they abstain from sex for three months, can actually be donors.

Can gay men be organ donors?

Providing the donor dies in a UK hospital, anyone, including gay bisexual and trans men and women, can be organ donors. The only exception is anyone who has Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease or has had cancer that has spread in the last 12 months.

A person’s sexual orientation is not a factor.

Can you donate organs if you are HIV positive?

What if I am HIV positive?

The screening process means that both HIV and Hepatitis are screened for, however, if you are found to have HIV it doesn’t necessarily stop you from being able to donate. If you are HIV positive you may be able to donate to someone already living with HIV.

Blood donation rules do not apply in the same way.

According to the NHS, in the UK, you can still donate organs or tissue, even if you have been turned down for blood donations.
