  • This super hot picture of diver Chris Mears has a deeper message

    Hotness with a message…

Olympic champion Chris Mears, who won Britain’s first gold medal for diving in 2016, is now making a splash in PETA’s first-ever campaign against swim-with-dolphin parks. The poster features Mears in a shimmering pool with his arms outstretched, proclaiming, “Swim-With-Dolphin Parks Are Dripping With Cruelty.”

In the accompanying video spot, Mears reveals that he swam with captive dolphins as a child on holiday with his parents, admitting, “We had absolutely no idea how these animals are treated.” He teamed up with PETA in the wake of the group’s campaign against SeaWorld, from which he learned that, like orcas, dolphins are highly intelligent marine mammals who are often illegally captured and sold to parks around the world.

In the open ocean, dolphins swim up to 50 miles a day alongside their families and communicate over vast distances by sonar. In marine parks, they’re forced to perform in pools filled with chemically treated water. Their sonar literally bounces off the walls, causing depression, ulcers, and early death.

According to World Travel Market research, 79 percent of Britons don’t like visiting attractions where animals are forced to perform – and Mears and PETA are now trying to reach the remaining 21 percent. While no dolphins have been held in captivity in the UK since the early 1990s, some British tourists continue to visit such attractions in Spain, the Caribbean, Florida, and California.

  • Man jailed for ‘vicious’ homophobic attack in London

Man told police, during his interview, the reason for his attack was that his victim was gay.

A Polish man has been jailed after being found guilty of a vicious attack which left one man with a broken leg. He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in the north London, Wood Green Crown Court.

Kamil Wladyslaw Snios, 29 attacked two men in Tottenham in an unprovoked assault which left one of the men with serious injuries which required hospital treatment.

    “Trophy”

The victim, a 36-year-old man was on his way to nearby shops in Stamford Road with a friend when he was approached by Snios.

Snios shouted at them in polish and then slapped and kicked the victim hard enough for him to fall onto the floor. Once down, Snios continued to kick the man as he tried to crawl away and slapped his friend beside him whilst in shock. Sinos then took a packet of cigarettes out of the rear pocket of the man’s trousers and held it above him as a trophy to show his friends, who were nearby.

The attack happened on Stamford Road in North London.

    Reason for attack

Officers from Haringey arrested Sinos and upon interview he made a number of homophobic remarks, sighting this as a reason he attacked the men.

Detective Constable Mark Nicholls from Haringey CID, said, “We are pleased to have secured this sentencing for a needless, unprovoked and sustained assault that left the victim seriously injured and frightened.

“It is evident that the Met will not tolerate homophobic attacks and will work to bring offenders to justice.”

Police have yet to announce the names of the victims, however, the BBC is reporting that relatives of the men have taken to social media to paid recognition to the couple.

More than 200 guests were evacuated from the luxury hotel, when the fire started in the early hours of Monday morning at around 6:40 AM. All reports suggest that only the couple were fatalities of the fire.

    Last message

Mr Midgley posted a photo of the pair enjoying a Christmas film in their room at the Cameron House Hotel just hours before the fire, on Instagram and wrote, “Home for the weekend.”

It is believed that the pair lived in London.

  • Andy Cohen says he’s a virgin, because he’s never done it with a woman

Errm, we’re not sure that’s how virginity works Andy.

TV hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper, who have been friends for “decades” were playing a game 1-2 AC on Andy’s show, Watch What Happens Live! when the question of Andy’s virginity came up. While Anderson guessed that his BBF Andy lost it when he was 34 – Andy revealed that the answer was “I’m a Gold Star, I’ve never done it with a girl…”

A confused Anderson, questioned Andy, saying, “but virginity isn’t…”

We’ve not heard the expression “gold star” before, but we have heard of a “platinum gay”.

The pair were also asked if they had dated, to which they answered never and that it’d be too weird!

What do you think? – are you still a virgin if you’ve never had sex with someone of the opposite sex?

  • Should the word “faggot” be removed from Fairytale of New York?

Should the word “faggot” be removed from Fairytale of New York?

And the bells are ringing out…

Every year it becomes a talking point amongst some in the gay community, but are the lyrics to “Fairytale of New York” offensive? We asked our readers… It sparked a lively debate, to say the least.

Most people who commented on our question, said no – and that they weren’t offended by the song. Here are some of our favourite comments to the question: “Should the lyric “faggot” be removed from Fairytale of New York?”

No. People need to chill out before we have to remove half of the English dictionary as one person or another finds something offensive – Ben

No, it’s attitudes that need to change not great Christmas songs, when did the idiots start running the asylum??? – Paul

I’m sick of people getting offended over ridiculous things. If you offended by the lyrics to this song you need to have a serious word with yourself – Gary

It should be changed. I also opt that the sky should be permanently replaced with a pink viscous gunge because that makes sense too – Dillion

Anyone with a decent understanding of the English language knows that the word has two meanings: 1 A savoury dish made from pork and 2 A bundle of sticks or twigs, no I didn’t look it up! – Graham

It was a phrase from the age. If we erase every offending word from songs, the world would be a very sanitised place. Somewhere I personally wouldn’t want to live. – Derek

No, it shouldn’t. People need to stop being so touchy. If anything ita a reminder of how far equal rights have brought us. I love that line. – Angela

I’m gay and not offended. As much as I’m glad attitudes towards a lot of things are changing it’s going to get to the stage where you can’t say anything in case of offending someone. – Robbie

Why remove a word calling someone a spicy meatball?
In seriousness though, a word is only as powerful as the meaning you give it. If you motion to get it removed, you’re part of the problem, because you are the one giving it negative connotations. We need to take words back, you’ll never change attitudes by doing things like this – it just alienates people and makes the words even more negative. Like telling a toddler not to say “fuck”. – Evelyn

I think it should be removed. Just as every song or rap that uses the n-word should be removed. Also fuck, arsehole and every other swear word or slur.  Oh, we can’t do that because songs everywhere would lose meaning and expression? – Sam

I don’t think so I don’t like the word but it’s re-writing history which is more offensive. It’s a song and reflects reality just as with any creative medium. People saying it’s past tense to be insulted by the word live in a different world. I live opposite a school and I don’t know which is worse the homophobia coming from the kids or the parents hanging about the gates. – Jamie

I’m gay, and a dj…. and when I play it in a gay bar… I turn the sound off for that line and the WHOLE room sings it with glee at the top of their voices… point proved lol… so it’s not us moaning! – Matt

Leave it alone! If you had to start erasing things that upset people half the 20th Century would have to go! It was a sign of the times and something for people to look back and learn from. – Andrew

No. I still giggle hysterically when I hear the song played uncensored in shops at Christmas. It was a song of its time, we cannot rewrite or delete history. – Jamie

  • Are gay saunas legal in the UK?

Are gay saunas legal in the UK?

There are many Gay Saunas or to use the Americanism, gay bathhouses, in the UK – but are they legal?

The short answer is yes, gay saunas are legal in England and Wales. They are also legal in Scotland, however, sexual activity is not permitted by the license that these venues must have.

In 2013 Police in Scotland called for a ban on the availability of condoms in all saunas in a crackdown on sex workers in Edinburgh. They also called on the licensing committee that “no items of a sexual nature will be permitted on the premises” should be included when reconsidering licenses.

Police in Scotland also raided two saunas who found during their inspection, “officers found evidence to indicate that the premises were used for activities other than those permitted by the licence, specifically sexual activity”.

All saunas have to be licensed.

So is it legal to use a gay sauna?

As long as you are just paying for entry to the club to have consensual sex with other members who are also in the club, for no financial reward, then that is legal. As long as the club has no control over others who are having sex in the club that is also lawful.

    Many closures

Over the years, like many gay bars, saunas used by the gay community have been suffering a fall in custom and usage. Many saunas have shuttered across the country.

What’s it like going to a gay sauna for the first time?

Writing for THEGAYUK.com columnist Stuart said the experience was quite “liberating”. You can read all about his experience here.

  • Man told he and his husband “not welcome” in homophobic attack in London

A man and his husband were told they were “not welcome” as they walked together just weeks before another gay man was violently attacked in Walthamstow, east London.

Police say a man and his husband were homophobically attacked and told they were “not welcome”, just weeks before another violent attack on a gay man in the Walthamstow area of London.

The second attack in early November left a 31-year-old victim with a black eye, cuts and bruises.

In the first incident, the married couple were approached by a man who asked them if he could take a picture of them, and then asked if they were gay. When the couple started to walk away, the suspect then grabbed hold of the victim and said “you are not welcome” and grappled with him.

The first incident happened on Walthamstow High Street.

The victim was then pulled away by his husband before they walked away and called the police. The victim was not injured in this incident.

    Second attack

The second incident took place, on Hoe Street very close to the High Street

In the second incident on Saturday, 4 November, the victim, a 31-year-old man, was walking along Hoe Street, E17 with two friends.

They were approached by three men who were unknown to them. One of them punched the victim in the face and shouted homophobic abuse at him. The punch caused the victim to fall to the floor, and the attacker made off.

The victim suffered a black eye and cuts and bruises – he did not require hospital treatment

The victims, who were both left extremely shaken after the incidents, provided detailed descriptions of the attacker from which the two e-fits were produced.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan police said, “Based on these descriptions and the locations where the assaults happened, officers have not ruled out the possibility that the attacks may well have been carried out by the same man.

“Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call Waltham Forest police on 101 or contact via Twitter @MetCC.

“To give information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org”.

  • Mary Portas’ son in heels is EVERYTHING

    He has his mumma’s taste.

Fierce is an understatement as Mary Portas & Melanie Rickey’s son, Horatio posed for the camera, in a pair of incredible Robert Wun heels. Striking a pose that even Nioami Campbell would be proud of, Mary remarked, “When the 5 year old slips into your hot new boots by @robertwun and rocks it.”

Horatio who is just five, wore the boots which can retail at over £1000 and looked confident and well, let’s face it, sassy AF. He’s the son of retail consultant and TV presenter Mary Portas and her wife, Melanie.

    Bravo!!
