Speaking about finding the lump in her breast the Celebrity Big Brother star said,

“The doctor noticed it immediately. She said, ‘this doesn’t feel right. We have to be real comprehensive with this and have it checked out.’

I’m always optimistic, initially when the doctor found the lump it hurt, it became quite painful when you touch it, that’s the point when I knew this is serious, when the doctor touched this little lump in my right breast, about the size of a pea, and I went bingo, I have cancer.”

According to reports Janice will have the cancer operated on but a mastectomy has been ruled out at this stage.

You may have read that Instagram is changing its algorithm bringing it in line with it’s parent company, Facebook. The algorithm will change the current chronological view that we’re all used to, to a system which shows users posts it thinks they want to see.

The system wide change brings it in line with its parent company Facebook.

The update however has been met with considerable opposition from its user base, with a petition asking Instagram to keep its old chronological viewing option reaching nearly 300,000 users.

Perez Hilton has taken a different tack that many celebs on the platform asking his fans NOT to turn on notifications for him.

    He said in a statement,

DO NOT turn on post notifications for me! Seriously. I log on to Instagram this morning and see all these – and more – on my feed. I actually think this can have the opposite desired effect for people. I know that I post too much and it will get hella annoying for you all to get a new notification every single time I upload a photo. And vice versa! Deep breaths everyone. Everything will work itself out – or it won’t. And if you’re really unhappy, just start using Snapchat more. I’m@ThePerezHilton on there too! xoxo

  • The Celebrities Who Have Said They’re A Little Bit Gay

Maybe this is a trend, but a number of celebrities have announced that they are a little bit gay or bisexual.

We have a look at who has opened up about their sexuality but not labelled themselves specifically as gay or bisexual.

    Mickey Rourke

In February 2016, Mickey Rourke, whilst responding to Manny Pacquiao’s comments about gay people being worse than animals, said that he was a little bit gay. Speaking with TMZ Rourke said,

“I think they were wrong and out of place. And I think that we all gotta watch what we say… That was from the Old Testament, so you got to give him a little bit of room. I got a lot of gay friends… I’m a little bit gay myself.”

    Sacha Baron Cohen

Sacha Baron Cohen put his sexuality on a scale of 17 to 31 per cent depending on the situation. He was, of course, promoting a film at the time of his statement.

    Olly Murs

Olly caused a stir when the news broke that he had told The Sun’s Dan Wootton that he was 20 per cent gay.

    George Shelley

George Shelley opened up about his sexuality by saying that he is attracted to men and women but refused to label himself as gay or bisexual – calling labels “old-fashioned”.

    Harry Styles

Harry Styles caused a bit of stir when he suggested that gender was not an important factor in his attraction to someone.

During an interview with Harry and Liam from the world’s most successful boy band, Harry dropped a rather heavy hint that perhaps his sexuality maybe isn’t just that of heterosexual.

Harry and Liam were asked what they looked for in a partner, Liam answered,

    ‘Female, that’s a good trait.’

However Harry said, with an awkward giggle:

    ‘Not that important’.

‘I would say sense of humour, and like natural”.

    Brenton Thwaites

Brenton Thwaites subtly suggested that gender wasn’t an important factor in his perfect partner. A fan asked the question which ‘three things you look for in a partner,’ Thwaites responded, ‘male or female? They’re very different.’

However Brenton is reportedly dating Chloe Pacey and they have one child together born 2016.

    Sinead O’Connor

Sinead O’Connor came out and then went back in again. She said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that she was three-quarters heterosexual.

    David Bowie

David Bowie came out as gay in 1972 during an interview with Melody Maker, then he came out as bisexual in 1976 in an interview with Playboy. However, by 1983, he said that coming out as bisexual was the biggest mistake I ever made” and “I was always a closet heterosexual”. David Bowie was married to two women during his life, Angie Barnett and Iman Mohamed Abdulmajid.

    James Franco

James Franco admitted that he was gay – up until a point. That point was intercourse. So while he loves LGBT culture he doesn’t actually want to do any dudes… Yet.

James “is he, isn’t he” Franco has admitted that he’s gay – up to a point.

James Franco, 36, who is well-known for his homoerotic Instagram posts and for playing gay characters has said that he’s gay – up to a point. That point being intercourse.

In an interview with a gay magazine FourTwoNine he said,

Well, I like to think that I’m gay in my art and straight in my life. Although, I’m also a gay in my life up to the point of intercourse, and then you could say I’m straight… If it means whom you have sex with, I guess I’m straight.

‘In the twenties and thirties, they used to define homosexuality by how you acted and not by whom you slept with. Sailors would f*** guys all the time, but as long as they behaved in masculine ways, they weren’t considered gay.’

  • Stonewall Speaks Out On NUS LGBT+ Decision To Drop Gay Male Reps

Britain’s largest LGBT charity Stonewall has spoken out against the NUS LGBT+ for its stance on gay male representation in the UK’s university system.

Stonewall has spoken out against the NUS LGBT+’s decision to rid gay male representation from its societies across the UK University system. A statement from the charity said that the best way to achieve diversity was to proactively engage with all parts of the LGBT community rather than “excluding specific parts of the community.”

NUS LGBT+ has come under considerable criticism after it said it would seek to eradicate gay male representation from its societies, after it claimed that “misogyny, transphobia, racism and biphobia were more likely to happen if societies were “dominated” by white cis gay men.”

A claim it made without providing proof.

Stonewall joined the growing concern about the NUS LGBT+ societies remit saying,

“We believe that LGBT societies should represent the full diversity of the LGBT community, including the multiple minority identities that exist within it. Gay men experience homophobia and oppression daily, both inside and outside the LGBT community. This could be because they are of faith, or have a disability, or are part of an ethnic minority. They also continue to face discrimination in the workplace, at school, in church, in institutions, or on the sports field. The fight against homophobia isn’t over yet.

“We think the best way to reflect diversity is to proactively engage with and encourage others to apply for positions on the board rather than excluding specific parts of the community.”

Last week another leading LGBTQ charity Push Projects in Warwickshire shared its concerns about the NHS LGBT+’s actions.

TheGayUK reached out to NHS LGBT+ specifically for comment on its decisions but were directed to the NUS press office, who said,

“All delegate who attend NUS LGBT+ conference are free to submit motions for discussion but they do not necessarily represent the views of NUS if at all.

  • Madrid Pride Roundup

Madrid Pride. It’s one of, if not the, largest Pride events in Europe. Visited by around 2 million people every year, this week long festival is jam packed full of amazing parties, events, street festivals and a parade that will knock the socks of anyone game enough to visit. Known as Orgullo (Spanish for Pride), the whole event is open to, and greatly visited by, people from all walks of life, so finding your LGBT+ brothers and sisters may be a little trickier earlier in the festival.

Not only is the Main Parade on Saturday afternoon at 6pm, the WE Party festival begins a few days earlier and provides a mega-gay party event every day until the end of the festival. For those who aren’t into the massive man-flesh crush that is a circuit festival – and I know you’re out there – the City of Madrid offered a complete week of events and live music concerts and DJ’s to keep you dancing until the early hours of morning.

    Madrid Pride
    Aaron Holloway

Our week began with a short trip from the airport to Madrid centre which is easily accessible by a combination of the Metro (40+ mins) or the Metro and the TVL train (20+ mins). The tickets are available in cards of ten, and you’ll need to buy an airport pass for a few euro extra per person when you leave the airport on the metro. Exact fares and combinations available alter depending on if you’re arriving to T 1-3, or T4, but the trip takes about 30 minutes, and costs less than 5€ each way.

Once in town, we had a cosy little apartment looking over Placa del Sol, which is a main meeting point, tourist hub and metro/highspeed rail station. From Sol it’s a short walk up the affectionately named ‘Hooker Street’, which is lined with women asking you to dine in her restaurant, or men and women, offering more intimate nights out, towards Chueca which is the main gay area of the city. Not that during Pride it’s easy to tell the gay areas from the non-gay areas: pride flags fly from almost every balcony, shop window, store front, stores have ‘pride sales’, and seeming pop-up-stores appear out of nowhere to sell ‘minis’, which are basically 700ml cups of mojito or sangria. No one seems to know why they’re called minis – it’s just a Madrid thing.

All around Chueca you can find singing, dancing, music, and people relaxing and drinking, and generally having a good time. It’s here that you can find tiny little bars that will sell you a beer for 6€ and also give you a plate of tapas for free – each new beer brings a new plate – it can be a very cheap way to eat out on some local(ish) specialties. Speaking of specialties, *the* thing to eat in Madrid is calamari on a baguette, and the best place to have it, is a cute little diner called The Little Bell. It seems to be almost all they serve, and is literally deep-fried calamari on a short baguette bread. It’s wonderfully delicious if not a little strange. As my friend Matt commented: ‘How is seafood a specialty in a city in the middle of Spain?’ While we’re on food, traditional Madrid food is a wonderful mix of seafood and meat. Dishes are covered more in oil than not, and if you want a salad with your plate of meat, make sure you order a side salad, or you might literally get a quarter of a tomato as your salad. It seemed to me that the lovely Spaniards aren’t big on ‘healthy’ eating.

Despite the seemingly unhealthy food, the Spaniards are generally a very attractive people. And the Pride parade gives them ample opportunity to show it all off. The parade starts at 6pm, so that it’s not too hot, although when we arrived to watch at about 8pm, the local firefighters were hosing down the crowd with the truck hoses. Unfortunately they were all fully dressed. The crowd on the other hand, not so much. While some people just went shirtless, others came in costumes of all kinds, rainbows were flying from every visible hand, surface, tree, and body. They even had a massive rainbow flag draped over the Madrid Town Hall from top to bottom in the first time in the parade’s history. The parade made its way slowly down the street past a water fountain lit in rainbow colours, towards the Town Hall, where a massive stage had been set up to provide a live band and an all-night party to entertain the crowd for hours. One of the interesting things about the Madrid pride is that it is not only frequented by Madrid’s gay population, but also by other members of the general community, bringing families and friends together to enjoy the celebration of individual expression and acceptance that embodies the modern pride parade era.
