Ru Paul’s Drag Race is one of the most talked-about TV series of all time and has not just opened doors for other aspiring drag queens, but also for people at home with no connections to the drag world.

Apart from the USA, the show has also had versions in the UK, Canada, Netherlands, Chile and Thailand as well as its many spin-offs like ‘All Stars’. According to Google Trends, the search term ‘drag race’ has increased by a score of 67 since the show’s original release in 2009.

With more international versions in the talks, meaning more catchy songs released and diva lip syncs, OnBuy’s Record Division were keen to find out which original Drag Race winners earn the most on Instagram!

Bianca Del Rio is the highest-earning winner of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, alongside being one of the most recognised names in drag, boasting 2,423,777 Instagram followers. In addition to the $100,000 winning prize of season six in 2014, Bianca stands to earn an incredible potential £7,586.42 per sponsored Instagram post.

In second place is the winner of USA’s season seven, Violet Chachki – she won $100,000 as her winning prize. Since Drag Race, Violet has amassed a massive 1,908,229 Instagram following which could earn an extra £5,972.76 per sponsored post.

Following closely behind in third place is Sasha Velour. As the winner of season nine, Sasha won $100,000 and currently has 1,840,902 followers on Instagram – this could earn her a further potential £5,762.02 per sponsored post.

Taking the 12th spot is our very own The Vivienne, who could make a potential £1,255.52 per post due to her 401,126 Instagram followers. The Vivienne won the UK’s first season back in 2019, beating the incredible Divina De Campo. However, unlike the USA version, UK winners do not receive a grand cash prize and instead win and star in their own digital TV series.

Lowest Earning Winners of Ru Paul’s Drag Race

In the last place, but still, a winner baby is Thailand’s season one champion Natalia Pliacam. With over 26,000 Instagram followers, Natalia stands to earn a potential £82.02 per sponsored post – that’s nearly 93 times less than the top-earning Drag Race winner Bianca Del Rio! In addition to winning Drag Race Thailand, Natalia also received 500,000 Thai Baht which is the equivalent of £12,159.71.

Angele Anang, the winner of Thailand’s season two, is the second-lowest earner with a potential £120.99 per post. Since winning in 2019, Angele’s Instagram followings now stands at 38,654.  Angele won a slightly greater prize than Natalia with total winnings (including gift vouchers and jewels) accounting to £21,883.

Luz Violeta in Chile’s version, The Switch Drag Race (Desafío Mundial), earns her the third spot. Luz won season one and with 83,658 Instagram followers could earn an estimated £261.85 per sponsored post.

This is how to find the secret Instagram pride logo

To celebrate it’s birthday Instagram has installed a secret easter egg on its app, where you can change the app’s logo on your home screen to a different logo, including a Pride inspired one.

    LGBT+ criticism

Recently Instagram has faced criticism over its policy of deleting, without the possibility of appeal or review photographs of LGBT+ content, particularly of the male body.

Last week the platform deleted numerous photos and threatened to cancel the account of The Naked Rugby Players, a charity calendar which celebrates body diversity and bring awareness of male cancers. However the pictures which were removed did not contain any nudity.

The platform did reinstate the pictures and issued an apology directly to The Naked Rugby Players, but has since deleted, without appeal or review, at least two more of the pictures from the account and once again issued its threat to delete the account.

Fans of the calendar called Instagram a “shambles” and the policy “discriminatory”.

Facebook says sorry after removing pictures from charity calendar

Facebook, which owns the Instagram platform has apologised after numerous images, which complied with its nudity policies were removed from The Naked Rugby Player’s profile.

Yesterday we reported that The Naked Rugby Players, which aims to raise awareness of male cancers and body positivity through its partnerships with LGBT+ Rugby Clubs and Balls To Cancer, had been threatened by Instagram to have its profile deleted after two pictures were uploaded to its account.

The two pictures in question featured no actual nudity and were cropped inline with Instagram’s no genital policy.

    “We’re sorry for this mistake.”

Speaking to THEGAYUK.com, a spokesperson for Facebook said, “Every day we’re inspired by the millions of people using our platforms to connect with, and raise money for, meaningful causes. This content was removed in error and has now been restored. We’re sorry for this mistake.”

The Naked Rugby Players have released a calendar every year since 2018 with the aim of raising money for Balls To Cancer and LGBT+ Inclusive Rugby Clubs.

The players have managed to put together a calendar for 2021 despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. This year’s calendar is called “Unseen Bits” and features 12 never-seen-before pictures from previous photoshoots.

Instagram removes pictures and threatens to delete charity calendar account

An account by The Naked Rugby Players, which aims to raise awareness of male cancers and body positivity, on the Facebook-owned Instagram platform has been threatened with removal after it uploaded two pictures from its 2020 calendar featuring the LGBT+ Rugby club, Chester Centurions.

The two pictures in question featured no actual nudity and were cropped inline with Instagram’s no genital policy.

This isn’t the first time that Instagram has pulled, censored, deleted or threatened to delete an account over pictures of nearly naked men or men that are naked but have their genitals covered.

Screenshots shared by The Naked Rugby Players seen by THEGAYUK show that the account holders weren’t even permitted to lodge an appeal with Instagram and told that because there are fewer reviewers due to the coronavirus outbreak, one of the largest companies in the world, Facebook, wouldn’t be able to review the post.

The two images in question complied with Instagram’s “Nudity or sexual activity guideline” and did not show genitals, or “close-up of fully-nude buttocks”.

In fact take a look at them here.

Fans were quick to defend the calendar and accused Instagram of being “prudish” and “ridiculous” and that their deletion of images of men happened all too often.

We have reported that Instagram has blocked numerous gay male accounts for images that it says breaks its policies, such as porn star Brent Everett, meat Magazine, Celebrity Master Chef winner Riyadh Khalaf however, it seemingly has set a double standard, by allowing singer Lizzo and Kim Kardashian to keep, to name a couple, fully nude pictures published on the platform.

After THEGAYUK.com reached out to Instagram for comment on the picture removals, the two posts in question were restored as well as a number of other pictures which had been deleted by the social network in the past.

Facebook told THEGAYUK that it’s ‘investigating’ the issue.

The Naked Rugby Players 2021 Unseen Bits calendar is now available to order.

  • Celebrity Masterchef winner Riyadh Khalaf’s speedo pictures get censored on Insta

Riyadh Khalaf has sent fans into a frenzy with his topless pictures, although it seems that the Instagram censors have been out in force after pictures of the star in his speedos were removed.

The Celebrity Masterchef winner, Riyadh Khalaf, has posed for a series of topless pictures, which have melted the hearts of his fans.

Although a few of his followers made comments about the star’s previous more racy speedo picture going missing from the platform. One commented, “The ridiculous state of Insta when you can’t post a selfie in Speedos”, to which Riyadh replied, “Thank you”.

Another asked, “Anyone has the previous post screenshot? ??”

And another added, “Now I’m curious what I’m missing out on from the first post…”

    Instagram censorship

Instagram has a history of censoring gay and male bodies. Previously we have reported that numerous celebrities and campaigns have been removed or banned outright by the Facebook-owned picture platform. It still, however, permits some women, most notably Kim Kardashian and Lizzo to publish nude pictures.

Posting to his 97,900 fans on Instagram the best selling author and podcast presenter, posed for a series of photos, while on holiday on the Greek island of Santorini.

Among the admirers of Riyadh’s photos was Doctor Ranj, who gave the star fire emojis and called the pictures “Filth”.

The star wrote, “Needed this. Being still, mindful and letting the ‘noise’ die down.

“This island is nothing short of spectacular! Would recommend if you’re looking for a chilled getaway with amazing food and clear blue waters. Not to mention the view from the highest point on the island from our villa @santoriniskygreece

RuPaul mysteriously deletes his social media accounts

The drag star has deactivated his account on Twitter and removed all posts on his Instagram.

Fans looking for Ru’s official Twitter account @rupaul are met with a simple, standard message that says, “this account doesn’t exist”.

Despite having millions of followers, indeed the world’s most-followed drag queen, thanks in large part to the multiple shows he has for Netflix, RuPaul has removed both his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

RuPaul’s official Facebook account is still active but it hasn’t been updated since June 2019.

Speculation from fans and critics alike have swarmed the platforms as to why the star has removed his accounts.

Fans noticed that photos were being deleted, one by one on Ru’s Insta account, but there was no explanation for the sudden change of tact.

Eagar-eyed fans also remarked that Drag Race season 10 star Kameron Michaels wiped their Instagram, leaving many to wonder if the two are connected.

Is your relationship on the rocks? Was 2019 a tough year, research has shown that people are rowing about what their other after is posting online!

Just under half of all Brits admit they have secretly checked their partner’s Facebook account and one in five went on to row about what they discovered, new research has revealed.

One in seven said they had contemplated divorce because of their other halves activities on Facebook, Skype, Snapchat, Twitter or WhatsApp.

Nearly a quarter or the 2,000 married Brits asked, said they had at least one argument a week with their partner because of social media use and 17 per cent said they rowed every day because of it.

The most common reasons for checking their partner’s social media accounts was to find out who their partner was talking to, to keep tabs on them, to check who they were out with and find out if they were telling the truth about their social life.

While 14 per cent said they looked specifically to identify evidence of infidelity.

The research was commissioned by family law specialists Slater and Gordon who have seen an increase in the number of people citing social media use as a cause of divorce year on year.

Andrew Newbury, head of family law at Slater and Gordon said:

“Social media can be a wonderful way of keeping in touch with family and friends, but it can also put added strain on a relationship.

“Five years ago Facebook was rarely mentioned in the context of a marriage ending, but now it has become common place for clients to cite social media use, or something they discovered on social media, as a reason for divorce.

“With more than 556 million people using Facebook each day, the way we live our lives, and our marriages, has drastically changed. We are finding that social media is the new marriage minefield.

“Social media, specifically pictures and posts on Facebook, are now being routinely raised in the course of divorce proceedings.”

It wasn’t just what their partner was doing on social media but also how long they spent on it that was likely to cause marital problems with Facebook usage topping the list of reasons couples argued over social media.

Arguments were also caused because of contact with an ex-partner, sending secret messages and posting inappropriate photos.

One in twenty even complained that their partner didn’t post any pictures of them together which made them upset.

Fifteen per cent of Brits considered social media to be dangerous to their marriage, with Facebook considered the most dangerous, followed by WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram.

But one in ten admitted they hid images and posts from their partner, while eight per cent admitted to having secret social media accounts.

A fifth of respondents said they felt uneasy about their relationship after discovering something on their partner’s Facebook. 43 per cent said they confronted their spouse immediately about this, but 40 per cent said it took them some time before they felt comfortable to raise it with their partner.

While a third said they kept their social media log-in details a secret from their partners, 58 per cent said they knew their partner’s log-in details, even if their spouse wasn’t aware they knew them.

Andrew Newbury, head of family law at Slater and Gordon said:

“Social media can also make a divorce more difficult. Divorce is already a stressful time for everyone involved and what is being posted on Facebook can antagonise families and make a speedy resolution more difficult to achieve.

“We are now actively advising our clients to be cautious when it comes to using Facebook and all forms of social media because of its potential to damage relationships.”

Five social media tips that could save your relationship.

    1. Don’t post in anger.

Your post will be seen by all your friends, family and potentially millions of others. Even if you later delete your post, the damage will have been done.

    2. Be respectful.

Don’t complain about your partner or other family members online.

    3. Be transparent.

Check with your partner before you post images or information.

    4. Check your privacy settings.

You might think someone can’t see a post when they actually can.

    5. Take a break and enjoy the moment.

You don’t need to post everything on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

  • Instagram really has a problem with its double standards on nudity

Instagram really has a problem with its double standards on nudity

The picture-sharing platform, Instagram, has allowed numerous stars, like Lizzo and Kim Kardashian to upload completely nude pictures while gay porn stars and LGBT+ body-positive organisations have their pictures removed and accounts cancelled.

There seems to be one rule for some and another for everyone else. Over the years we’ve reported countless times where Instagram and Facebook (which owns Instagram) have deleted, cancelled or suspended pictures and people it deems to break its community guidelines.

However, in the latest show of its double standards, between some famous women (such as Kim Kardashian) and LGBT+ folx, Instagram has allowed nude pictures, taken by singer Lizzo to remain on its service.

    https://www.instagram.com/p/B5i2Rl7hAoQ/

The pictures which were uploaded on the 1st of December have garnered over 1 million likes on the social media platform with thousands and thousands of comments.

Instagram recently came under fire after it deleted a picture featuring a wet – but (semi) clothed Jason Derulo, with a peen outline. He was wearing underwear… no nudity at all.

Earlier this year porn star Brent Everett hit out at Instagram after it removed a picture of him in the nude and a report that we ran on the removal of said picture had THEGAYUK’s official Facebook page’s moderators banned from the platform for 30 days.

In 2018 the gay pin-up magazine, Meat had its account suspended and deleted numerous times. Despite this Kim Kardashian, has posted naked pictures including a full-frontal to her heart’s content – gaining millions of likes, without being deleted by the social giant.

  • Brent Everett hits out at Instagram for “double standards” over photo removal

Brent Everett hits out at Instagram for “double standards” over photo removal

Adult star Brent Everett has hit out at Instagram after it removed one of his pictures.

Gay porn star, Brent Everett has slammed Facebook-owned Instagram after it removed one of his images from the site. In a post, he slammed the photo network for “double standards” asking, “why is it okay [that] some can do it and others cannot?”

On Twitter he added, “Whenever I open Instagram all I see is peoples butts and bulges when I post one pic of my butt i get deleted”

Instagram has, in the past, come under criticism from many in the LGBT+ community as it has deleted, non-pornographic images of body-positive campaigns and removes entire accounts, even when they haven’t seemingly broken any of the service’s “community guidelines”.

In 2018 the gay pin-up magazine, Meat had its account suspended and deleted numerous times. Despite this Kim Kardashian, has posted naked pictures including a full-frontal to her heart’s content – gaining millions of likes, without being deleted by the social giant.

The picture that Brent had removed is available to see on Twitter and shows him standing in a field, naked – but it is debatable with the picture can be described as pornographic.

Instagram said it had removed the photo, asking Brent to only post pictures to his 105,000 followers that were “appropriate for a diverse audience” saying that their standards were based on a “global community”.
