  • COMMENT | Cyclists: Apart from the Lycra, I just hate them

Thought I would mention cyclists. I am not one I would like to point out, from the very start. To give balance I am sure there are considerate and road aware cyclists. In fact, I encountered one earlier this week. An elderly lady who pulled over to the side of the road at a point of narrowing to signal me past.

I travel on country lanes on my daily commute and the vista is a delight to behold. Other road users including tractors, horse riders, car drivers, and I pull over for those who have a more urgent need to get to journey’s end. This is not reflective in my experience of the cyclist.

I say to men of any age; before dressing in the lycra outfit you have purchased, empty a bag of spuds into it to get some contextual vision into the sight you will become. If you are unfit before mounting, the clothing is not like a superhero costume, it does not enhance your performance. It just makes you stand out as a fool.

There is something about a man and his fascination with all things phallic that drives a male “old enough to know better”  to shrink wrap his body in Lycra and place on his head a slipstream carbon fibre helmet to complete the image of an erect member. Hardly surprising then that they are complete “d*cks” on the road.

On my journey home last night I came to a queue of traffic on an A class road. As I got closer to the front, there he was “cycleman”, all in black with a black helmet and on a black bike. In poor visibility and with no lights.

To add insult to injury this athlete of the highway was proceeding at an earth-shattering 6 or 7 miles an hour. This breakneck speed impaired his ability to turn his head and see what a total nuisance he was being to commuting traffic in tax paying vehicles. The reason for his slow progress, he was holding aloft his mobile device and filming himself.

Having passed him I looked into my rearview mirror and he was still in the middle of the road ignoring other road users. The only other thing I would surmise about him was, he was a man of small appetite. I deduce this from him having a very small lycra lunchbox.

On another recent occasion, I was sat in a line of traffic in the town centre with my right-hand indicator on to turn at the next junction. I was in a road position to the right of the lane with a number of other vehicles that were indicating the same intent. At the moment there was a gap in the oncoming traffic enabling my turn to be conducted safely I had to brake hard as “cycleman” came down the outside of the lane ignoring all of the indicators and riding in the middle of the road.

We live in an age where we are encouraged to be environmentally friendly and considerate. One man on a bicycle may be that – until he has a 2-mile tailback of carbon-emitting traffic he is ignoring behind him.

As a car driver, I can be held accountable and I am identifiable from my vehicle registration. It could be any road user that makes a note of my number or a camera on the highway if I am speeding, perhaps one on a set of traffic lights if I go over on amber or red, or a dashboard cam of any other road user, finally even a mobile phone cam handheld by a pedestrian can be used to report me or any other licensed road user. I have lost count of the number of cyclists I have seen breaking the law of the highway and failing to show even the slightest amount of courtesy and why should they; as they are totally anonymous and unaccountable.

A man in Lycra can be a sight to behold, a bulge to indulge, a fetish to crave; until he mounts his machine and becomes just another drain dodger!

  • ‘Serious fears’ missing Russian pop star killed in Chechnya

Serious fears have been raised that a Russian pop star has been killed in Chechnya’s crackdown on homosexuality.

Due to licensing this article must be read on our website.

A leading Russian human rights group said it had “serious fears” Friday that a gay pop star may have been killed in Chechnya as part of a crackdown on the homosexual community. Chechen Zelimkhan Bakayev, 26, went missing in August when he left his home in Moscow to visit the capital Grozny to attend his sister’s wedding. (more…)

  • There’s a new position and we’re interested… very interested

    It’s called the “68”…

So we were reading Cosmo, as you do, and we found out about a new sex position and well we were naturally interested. It’s called the “68”.

It’s similar to its slightly older brother the very famous “69”, but instead of giving both of you pleasure, it focuses more on just one of you. Brilliant!

So what do you need to do?

Well, apparently the “bottom” lies on their back with their legs slightly open with their knees bent and feet flat on the floor or bed. The “top” lies on top of the “bottom” facing up with their head on the “bottom’s” thighs. It’s like a natural resting place.

Your junk should be right in your partner’s face.

Now, this could be great as a rimming position or oral sex position… Although be careful as your penis might not bend fully that way… and you don’t want to break it.

Don’t forget if you’re the top to take some of the weight off your partner’s chest, by using your elbows to take some of the strain.

  • Massive changes at Gay Times as both Editor and Deputy Editor “step down”

And replaced by the previous marketing manager, Josh Rivers.

Massive changes are afoot at the UK’s oldest gay magazine Gay Times. Both the Editor and Deputy Editor have been replaced by newbie editor, Josh Rivers, who was previously the magazine’s marketing manager. He is also the co-founder of Series Q, a network for mentorship, support and empowering LGBT entrepreneurs.

The magazine is due to be relaunched for its next issue with a complete overhaul – which will see an “a shift in content to build a relevant journal that will inspire the modern man”.  A statement from Gay Times also notes that Josh us the ” first gay man of colour to lead a major UK gay publication”.

The shake-up follows on from the magazine’s purchase by the new owner, James Frost, from Millivres Prowler.

This is the second time that Gay Times has rebranded in as many years. The first came in 2015 when the magazine changed its name from GT to Gay Times.

Speaking about the forthcoming changes the company’s CEO, Mr Frost said, “Since we met in 2016, I’ve been very impressed with Josh’s passion, enthusiasm and dedication to serving the LGBT+ community. It’s Josh’s consistently inclusive and expansive view of our community, and his fresh ideas and enthusiasm that make him the perfect person to lead Gay Times. I am thrilled he’s accepted the challenge; we share the belief that contemporary men are looking for something more from LGBT+ media, and together with the team at Visual Talent, we are going to deliver exactly that!”

Taking to Twitter, the new editor of Gay Times, Josh wrote,

  • The gay side of Nightmare On Elm Street explored in brand new movie

Launching soon… Nightmare On Elm Street 2 is getting its own documentary from those who starred in it.

We’ve already said that Nightmare On Elm Street 1 & 2 were pretty gay, but now, Scream, Queen: My Nightmare On Elm Street goes behind the scenes to explore the gay subtext of that incredibly homoerotic film. Mark Patton, who starred in the film discusses how his career following the release of the film, didn’t pan out how he had planned. Mark’s career was in the ascension, with three movies under his belt and then it was gone. In the trailer, he says he said, “‘Thank you Jesus you gave me everything I asked for’ and then the next day it all went to hell”.

Mark, who is now openly gay, wasn’t at the time of the film. The film was the third major picture of his career and was his last until the reboot, Freddy Vs Jason, in 2003, where he was included in archive footage. Mark had smaller roles in various other projects but ultimately gave up on his acting career after being offered a role in a CBS show.

Watch below the scene in which Jesse, played by Mark says that Freddy Kruger is “inside him”. Yep 🙂

  • THEATRE REVIEW | Witness for the Prosecution, County Hall, London

★★★★★ | Witness for the Prosecution, County Hall, London

REVIEW | Witness for the Prosecution

Depending on your age and/or love of black and white films, you may know Witness for the Prosecution from the classic 1957 film with Charles Laughton and the divine Marlene Dietrich. No? Maybe you saw the recent BBC adaptation with Kim Cattrall as the murder victim, wealthy Emily French? No? Well, either way, you’re in for a treat. Even if you already know the deliciously cunning twists in this courtroom drama, you’re going to be knocked for six by the production.

1950’s London and personable working class chap Leonard Vole is up before the courts, accused of bludgeoning to death a lonely (and rich) older woman in her St John’s Wood home. Things aren’t looking good for Leonard, especially as she’d just changed her will in his favour, and the gallows are looming. His only alibi is from his glamorous and frosty Teutonic wife, Romaine but will she vouch for him in court and help his cause or are things about to take a more complicated turn?

Agatha Christie’s dramas are often wrongly seen as somewhat twee and cosy; the stuff of Sunday afternoons with a nice cup of tea. Here, you get to see Christie’s dark mind in all its sinister glory in a blood-splattered tale that is horrifying at times. OK so there’s the usual parade of thinly sketched and clichéd characters but that’s part of Christie’s charm too.

One of the big draws of this production is the staging. Set in a courtroom, here we see it staged as authentically as is possible as we’re in…yes…a courtroom. Well, almost. It’s a debating chamber inside the sumptuous, disused, Art Deco County Hall (at the back of the London Eye, behind the aquarium) and it’s convincing. You could almost be in the public gallery watching the drama unfold. It’s high drama and more than a tad camp as there’s a soundscape of echoing footsteps, clanging doors and assorted gasps. It’s a thrill ride of chilling and thrilling twisty-turning fun.

Forget The Mousetrap, Leave that for the West End tourists and head down to Westminster for a rare treat.

Witness for the Prosecution plays at County Hall until 11th of March 2018

  • 9 of the best gay chat sites

9 of the best gay chat sites

If you’re looking for a community of gay and bisexual men in the UK there are many forums, chat sites and apps to choose from each offering different types of experience and communities.

Whether you’re looking for dates, mates or fetes here are some of our favourites.

    THEGAYUK Chat

Okay, we’re blowing our own trumpet here, but THEGAYUK’s community is an entirely different concept adding content and members together. So as stories are developing on the site and around the globe, we invite our users to get involved with the story and add their voices. There are forums, private messages, user photo galleries. It’s a relatively new service, so membership is building. It’s free to join and use. What’s more, we use our community to help shape our content. So if you have opinions that you want to get heard then you should join us!

    Fitladz

Fitladz is one of our favourite haunts. It’s bitchy, fast-moving and has a real community feel to it. There’s usually between 600 and 1500 guys on at any point and has a fantastic forum system, with people bringing up all manner of subjects for the community to discuss. Basic membership is free and there is an option to upgrade.

    Realjock

If fitness and the gym is more your scene Realjock.com is the place for you to hang in, although the membership tends to be US skewed, there are lots of Brits in the membership. Registration is free and will give you access to thousands of forums and millions (yes millions of posts). Apparently, they have nearly 400,000 members so as they say variety is the spice of life. The interface is simple looking and perhaps a little dated.

    Gaydar

Who could forget the daddy of gay chat, Gaydar? The site has been through a major redesign and overhaul. It has a very clean interface and the old chat rooms are still intact but do seem a little quieter than when Gaydar was the only – or the major player in town. It’s clean and well laid out. There isn’t a guy aged over 35 who probably didn’t have a Gaydar account at some point! Maybe it’s time to dust off the old log in and get back on.

    Onlylads

It took an age to join onlylads – because the activation code took forever to arrive in my inbox, although the site does allow for Facebook login, not everyone will want to use their other social media accounts to log in. The site claims to have over 100,000 profiles and come from all over the world. There’s no forum or chat room – but it does allow you to message individual members. It’s very clean looking and the interface is unfussy and user-friendly.

    b-gay.com

b-gay.com has been around since 1999 and offers a lot of good and interesting gay and bi lifestyle content, however, its chat service has a lot of work needed to make it stand up against its rivals. It runs on Javascript or flash – which not every browser or user wants or has turned on. There doesn’t look to be a place where you can log in and create a profile. It’s all a bit anonymous to be a good social site for users. Great for lifestyle content not so great for social.

    Caffmos

Caffmos is one of the most established social networks and its speciality is older guys, after all, it does stand for Contacts And Friendship For Men Over Sixty. The creators at Caffmos say that “friendship matters” and it’s been designed in a way to help the flow of conversations. It also offers verified photos – brilliant to ensure that the person is who they say they are. It also has an intelligent way of matching you to like-minded people by asking you to fill out three of your interests. It’s all quite old school but we love it.

    Squirt.org

Rude and lewd and if you like that, then Squirt is the place for you. You get 10 days for free and you can see a lot of guys in your ten days. The idea of this site is to hook up, cruise online and generally get your rocks off, it’s more like the dating app experience, but for your desktop and mobile.

By far one of biggest on the web is FabGuys, which has been entertaining the gays since 2010. It’s a British made website and has a verification system so you know you’re talking to real guys. It has a simple and easy to use looking website.

  • How to choose the best online dating profile picture

Getting your profile picture is so important – first impressions count.

Your dating profile picture is the first thing that other members will see of you, so take some time to get it right. We’ve put together some tips on what works and what doesn’t work for the perfect profile picture.

It goes without saying that your profile picture should be of you. We’re not fond of catfishing, fraud or just pictures of cartoon characters. You’re a real person, so a real picture of you is best.

Remember what they say first impressions can last a lifetime so make sure, when you’re choosing yours, that it reflects exactly how you want to portray yourself.

So here are our top tips:

    Recent photos

Make sure your profile picture is recent. We’ve all heard the stories of people turning up to dates only to discover that the person they meet is a good ten years older than their profile photo. It’s a bit like trades description. People want to know who they are meeting – a trustworthy and honest person will have an up-to-date, recent picture of themselves. It’ll also help identify you if you guys actually meet in real life.

    NEXT: YOU AND ONLY YOU
