  • ADVICE | I Have Piles… Can I Still Have Sex?

This week a concerned reader asks about haemorrhoids and whether he can still have sex.

I Have Piles... Can I Still Have Sex?

    Dear Jose,

I have just found that I have piles… Great! The problem is I’m the bottom in our relationship. Is it safe to f**k whilst I’ve got these? If I use creams and they go away, is there a possibility they’ll burst – am I more likely to get an infection – if say we have a three way or go to an orgy?

    J, 40, Somerset.

    Dear J

Anal sex has the potential to inflame pre-existing haemorrhoids (piles), though research shows that it does not cause them in the first place. So long as the piles are not actively bleeding or painful at the time on intercourse then it is probably safe to have sex. If they are bleeding or there is inflammation though this means that the natural protective barrier formed by the skin and mucous membranes is not at its optimum which if exposed to a STI can make transmission more likely.

I would recommend using Preparation H or Germoloids to help control pain and inflammation and to reduce swelling. During sex it is also important that you use a good water based lubricant, particularly during acts of multiple person or high frequency sexual activity as this will reduce the chance of any inflammation being caused. They are very unlikely to burst during normal sexual activity, even in the case of sex parties, threesomes or orgies. If creams etc. though do not fix the underlying problem and I would recommend as a permanent solution surgical intervention.

This can now be done almost painlessly by syringing the haemorrhoids and a referral can be obtained by going to see your GP. There are also a number of  private clinics undertaking the therapy which do not require GP referral.

  • Donald Trump Thinks Katie Hopkins Is A Trusted Columnist

We’re not sure if this is the endorsement anyone would want now…

The wannabe gay icon Katie Hopkins, has received praise from none other than Donald Trump, who tweeted to his 5.2 million followers on Twitter, his thanks for Hopkins‘ “powerful writing on the UK’s Muslim problem”.

He then went on to suggest that the UK’s politicians should watch Hopkins as many people in the UK agree with his stance of blocking Muslims from entering the US.

In return she thanked him and urged him to “stand strong” on his views, warning that the “liberal left” love a petition.

Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump is currently the subject of a petition, created by Suzanne Kelly, requesting that the UK government block him from ever entering the UK, citing ‘unacceptable behaviour’.

The petition has nearly 425,000 signatures on it, which means the UK’s government will consider the petition’s request for a parliamentary debate.
Yesterday speaking to THEGAYUK US comedian Margaret Cho called Donald Trump a “piss bottom”.
  • JOURNEY TO FATHERHOOD 3 | The Reaction

About five years ago I went on holiday to Benidorm. I met a gay couple from Berkshire, one of whom had been a long term employee at one of the world’s largest banks.

After a few nights we got very drunk and started one of those deep conversations about life. Recounting his time at the bank and his life since, he said ‘until you’ve really encountered some s**t, you don’t really appreciate life’. His encounter was leaving the bank he had worked for, for 15 years, during the recession. It made me think about what I really appreciate in life, the proverbial that life had thrown at me, if I really appreciated what I had and what sort of person I am. In the last issue I asked, what does £1000 mean to you, and now I ask, what sort of person do you think you are and what’s important to you?

The first person I spoke to about it was one of my oldest (15 years and counting) best friends. His reaction was a mixture of shock, anger at what he saw was my irresponsibility and disbelief.

My answer at the time, to myself, was multi-faceted. Firstly I have been through st: from ten years at boarding school from which I will never recover, but which essentially has defined me as the person I am today (it’s hard to deny what you are); through to significant but minor stuff like: being so poor I couldn’t pay for food in the supermarket and being on the verge of bankruptcy and losing everything for several weeks in 2008. On the plus side, I’ve come from a very privileged background: I was one of the 7% that went to boarding school, educated alongside royalty. Growing up I never went without, had plenty of opportunities and a happy childhood until 8. I’ve worked in the profession I wanted to work in, and today I am a Director at both the business I work for and a charity. So, I’d say I’ve been through some st and what’s most important to me is family and friends. Everything else is important, but a nice to have, because when the proverbial hits the fan, what is important? For me my family and friends aren’t just complex, but are probably the most important part of my life.

This was part of my reasoning behind having family when ‘we’ started to evaluate what we wanted in life (with my now, ex-partner). So, having been to the shows and conferences, I began to explore the topic with friends and family. You would think that the prospect of having children would fill friends and relatives with joy, hope, happiness and good will. But, in some cases, not a bit of it.

The first person I spoke to about it was one of my oldest (15 years and counting) best friends. His reaction was a mixture of shock, anger at what he saw was my irresponsibility and disbelief. Having been to Tate Britain, we spent an hour perched on a wall where he preached about why I shouldn’t and couldn’t do it. So I knew then that if someone so very close to me, could react in such a way, that I would need careful management of everyone else.

Indeed as I hadn’t sold the house at the time, this was one of the reasons why I placed everything on hold until last year.

Based on that experience I have told very few friends and none of my extended family. Thankfully the reactions have been mixed from the positive (good for you, you can do it), to as I said, the negative. So far out of the ten individuals or couples I have told, seven have been supportive and three have been virulently against. My parents for their part swing from good to bad, and my brother is very supportive.

Understandably I’ve studied the negative reactions in some detail and I’ve come to conclusion that it is a mixture of worries and fear for the future, tied into the respondents own background issues, and worries about my capabilities. It’s also a reflection of the wider gay community. So often we are on the fringes of society and what binds us together can be what makes us different (and quite often cutting edge), but not what is considered ‘normal’. One of my friends who reacted negatively, was abused as a child and you could understand his worries about security for the children I would bring into the world. Another is older and never had the opportunity to have children and you can see his thoughts lined with regret and resentment. The third person of concern is my own mother.

My mother is the living embodiment of a conventional parent, and a 1950’s housewife. She left a job as a manager at International Computers in the 70s, married my father and life for her became having children, cooking, ironing and keeping the house clean. I have to give credit to my mother as she has a hatred of the last three, but as one of my friends said, entered into and stuck to, an agreement with my father, where they had clearly defined roles. She has raised two decent, productive, contributing members of society; despite the bumps along the way (my homosexuality and my brothers psychological crash with drugs).

Her reaction has been the most worrying. In part it’s down to the baggage my mother brings.

When I was young, we were due to have a sister, a child my mother dearly wanted. Unfortunately (now thanks to the genetic testing I have undertaken) we know that I and (therefore most probably) my mother carry a gene which contributes to miscarriages. My mother’s own miscarriage, is never spoken about and amazingly, the sheer pain after all these years is still there. So, one Saturday a mild conversation about choosing gender turned into a fraught conversation based on my mothers pain. (I’ve decided for that reason not to choose the gender.) On top of this my mother goes from highs to lows: “What names should we think about,” to, “I’m too old to raise a child,” and “How will you work with the crying at night”. The last is a decent point, but with the help of hefty pay from my job, I will be able to afford child care and expect to have time off following birth. I wish that my mother, who is usually so practical would offer calm, collected, thoughtful advice. Instead as with three of my friends I quite often have hysterics management. I now avoid the friends, one of whom I have stopped speaking to entirely and the other two rarely. In some ways it has accentuated what is important to me: family and friends.
Next time I want to take a helicopter view over the ‘legals’ and some of the ethical issues that prospective gay parents have, from: ‘who is mum’, to which jurisdiction, to sexism.

  • Margaret Cho: Donald Trump Is A Big Old Power Bottom

Margaret Cho has hit out at Donald Trump as a “piss bottom” in an exclusive rant to THEGAYUK.com

Cho who will be coming to the UK shortly as part of her psyCHO tour went on to qualify her statement by adding:

“But that’s what bottoms are – very, very strong people, very famous, very rich people. I far as I’ve seen the most powerful people in the world are often power bottoms. Bossy bottoms.”

Trump is currently under pressure to retract statements he made yesterday calling for a bar on Muslims entering the United States. He also claimed that some places in London were so radicalised that police were “scared for their lives”.

Around 300,000 people have signed a petition demanding that the Republican presidential hopeful be barred from entering the UK.

  • Petition Started To Remove Poppers From Legal Highs Ban

Petition Started To Remove Poppers From Legal Highs Ban

A new petition has been created to urge the Government to drop Poppers from the Psychoactive Substances Bill.

A petition, created by Carl Howard, is calling for Poppers (alkyl nitrates) to be dropped from the Government’s Psychoactive Substances Bill, which will see all current legal highs banned.

The law would make selling poppers a criminal offence, with those found guilty of supplying potentially receiving a 7 year prison sentence.

    In his petition Howard says,

“There is no evidence to suggest that in the vast majority of users poppers cause anything more than a short-lived head rush. Banning them will drive people to seek harmful alternatives. We call upon the government to exclude them from this Bill until hard medical evidence proves otherwise.”

Speaking to THEGAYUK in August about the law, Liberal Democrat Lord, Brian Paddick said,

“The way that the law is written, it is any substance that changes your mental state like making you feel happy.

“So air fresheners for example… Potentially florists could be arrested because the scent given off by roses makes people feel romantic – makes them feel nice or whatever else.

“By the strict definition of the law they are supplying a substance which when inhaled through sniffing changes your mental state. That’s how ridiculous this law is.”

  • REVIEW | VAIN STHLM Originals In-ear Headphones

    ★★★★★ | VAIN STHLM Originals In-ear Headphones

The packaging on these beauties is very reminiscent of Apple – from the beautiful tonal card outer, magnetic flaps covering information in sleek typography through to the copper coloured tin that holds the stunning earphones.

This is a product that has thought through all aspects, from the colour range on offer across the range to the fabric covered cord, from the copper agents on the buds themselves to the magnet that allows you to secure them around your neck and avoid tangles.

This is sleek, studied and stunning Scandi design at its best. But do they actually sound any good? The simple answer is yes, yes, yes!

These beauties come in several colours and I got my mitts on a pair in raw umber – think Armani greige and you get the picture. Subtle and understated design, but very on trend for all you fashionistas out there. The copper detailing on each bud makes them stand out from a crowded marketplace. If you’re looking to replace your apple buds, then these are ideal!

Having just invested in a new iPhone 6S, and trial access to Apple Music, now was the ideal time to take these babies for a test drive – and they didn’t disappoint. With the now expected built-in volume control and mic for those all important calls, this mirrors apples offering but has extra style and the ability to stop/start music.

They come with 3 sets of buds in different sizes to ensure a good, comfortable fit – unlike some others on the market, and they are very comfortable. As someone who travels a bit for work, I hate those hard plastic ear-buds that don’t feel secure or comfortable after a period of time, but these lovelies are perfect.
As for sound, they offer a deep, sexy bass with great treble and an excellent mid-range – I tried them with everything from Mariah through Madonna to Kylie, visiting some Will Young, Billie Holliday and Adele along the way – they handled it all with aplomb.
I know that most smartphones give you a pair of headphones with each handset, as do most tablets – but these buds work wonderfully with all of the above and I’m struggling to find anything that they could improve.

    LOVES
Sound – which is a good thing for earbuds
Design – gorgeous choice of colours and shape

The price may seem steep for ear-buds but these are a classy item, with quality built in. I’m rating these so highly because, after comparing them with the apple version, these little beauties stand out, for all the right reasons.

  • THEATRE REVIEW | Tinderella, Cinders Slips it In is a real sparkle of a production!

Above the Stag theatre has done it again and produced another hilarious panto in ‘Tinderella: Cinders Slips it In.’ ★★★★

The theatre has produced many a camp panto in years past. These include ‘Dick Whittington: Another Dick in City Hall’ in 2009, ‘Sleeping Beauty: One Little Prick’ in 2011, and last year’s ‘Treasure Island: The Curse of the Pearl Necklace.’ But with ‘Tinderella: Cinders Slips it In‘ the Stag has outcamped, and outdone, all its previous pantos. It’s as camp as christmas and as gay as eggnog. And it’s hilarious.

The title says it all. The show is a take off on Cinderella, and in the Stag’s version Prince Charming is searching the kingdom for a man (and NOT a woman) who fits into the glass slipper, in the kingdom of Slutvia. And that man is Cinders. He cooks and cleans and does the chores for his wicked evil stepmother Countess Volga and her two vile daughters Nicole Ferrari and Maude Escort. But then one day, while on a gay app on his mobile phone, he meets Prince Charming, and it is love at first sight for both of them. But Cinders’ phone gets ruined (I won’t say how!), and he’s unable to contact, or be contacted by, the very handsome young Prince.

But there is a Fairy Godmother, in the form of The Fairy, and she’s the one who, with the help of the adorable Buttons, makes sure that Cinders gets to the ball to be reunited with Prince Charming, though the Prince’s father, King Ludwig, has no clue that his son is jonesing for another man. It’s all a laugh a minute when the show takes us from the Countesses’ kitchen to the King’s office to a courgette that gets turned into, funny enough, a mode of transport to which Cinders to the palace! We also are treated to songs about balls, a clever slow-motion scene that involves the entire cast, and enough campiness and cute boys to make even Alan Carr blush. And to top it off, we are spoiled with Slutvia’s Eurovision song!

What can one say about a show that has ok acting, ok singing, and an ok script? Well – it’s brilliant! You’ll be laughing from the opening scenes which include a giant rat, to the audience participation bits (there are quite a few and boy are they clever!), up to the final heartwarming and groin inflaming scenes. It’s a show that’s over two hours but it flies by. And the cast are perfect, from Joseph Lycett-Barnes as Prince Charming to Lucas Meredith as Buttons and Grant Cartwright as Cinders – everyone does their part, and they all act very well with each other! From the writers and director of total sell-out hits ‘Get Aladdin,’ ‘Jack Off the Beanstalk,’ and ‘Treasure Island – The Curse of the Pearl Necklace’ (Martin Hooper and Jon Bradfield) and directed by Andrew Beckett, Above the Stag has put on another memorable show.

Tinderella: Cinders Slips it In is playing until January 16th, 2016. Most performances are sold out but there are a few tickets left on various dates. To book, please go here: http://www.abovethestag.com/shows/
