Daily Mail has launched “Woke Watch”

The Daily Mail has launched what they’re calling “woke watch” and asked followers on Twitter (er… sorry X) to report egregious wokeness to a specially created email address.

A reporter for the paper has asked followers to report “shocking examples of wokeism” in order for the paper to write about them on their online platform.

    The examples include,

“Has your school gone pronoun mad” and “Worried you’ve lost your freedom of speech at your university?”

The Daily Mail and Mailonline have run a slew of anti-woke stories, which attract hundreds of comments and no doubt thousands of readers.

Just typing “Pronoun” into the Mailonline’s search, reveals there are 876 articles that include mentions of pronouns. The latest takes a swipe at Leeds University’s latest 12-page trans inclusion policy.

So there you have it. The Daily Mail is now Woke Watching…

  • Dan Wootton suspended from the Daily Mail

Dan Wootton suspended from the Daily Mail

Time is up for Dan Wootton at the Daily Mail after the paper said it would investigate the former columnist.

MailOnline has suspended Dan Wootton while they conduct an investigation into recent allegations made against him. Wootton, who holds the position of executive editor and presenter of the GB News show ‘Dan Wootton Tonight,’ has been accused of paying for videos featuring sexual activity during his time as the former executive editor of The Sun and a showbiz journalist.

The allegations came to light after his ex-partner publicly disclosed them last month. As a result, his twice-weekly column for MailOnline, which he has held since 2021, has not been published since the allegations surfaced.

Not working for the MailOnline for the foreseeable future

DMG media, the parent company of MailOnline, stated that Wootton would not be working with them for the foreseeable future. A spokesperson for the company confirmed that they are taking the allegations seriously and are conducting an independent investigation into the matter.

The investigation is also being pursued by Wootton’s former employers at News UK, where he served as a celebrity journalist for over a decade.

Wootton has not directly addressed the allegations, but on his GB News show, he described them as part of a “smear campaign” on social media by “nefarious players with an axe to grind.” He acknowledged that, as a journalist, he is uncomfortable being the subject of the story but asserted that his show maintains no spin, bias, or censorship.

Wootton, known for breaking the story of Megxit while working for The Sun, has been a presenter at GB News and a columnist for MailOnline since leaving the tabloid.

The first Pride event in the UK, known as the UK’s first official Gay Pride Rally, took place in London on July 1, 1972.

When was the first pride in the UK?

The event, organized by the Gay Liberation Front, saw around 2,000 participants marching from Trafalgar Square to Hyde Park. It was a significant milestone in the LGBTQ+ rights movement and marked the beginning of an annual tradition of Pride celebrations in the UK.

Since then, Pride events have grown in size, visibility, and importance, spreading to various cities and regions across the country. At last count, there were over 170 prides in the UK. The UK boasts two of the largest prides events in the world in London and Brighton.

What can you expect from a Pride in the UK?

Attending a Pride event is a unique and vibrant experience that offers a wide range of activities and celebrations. While each Pride event may have its own distinct features, here are some common elements you can expect:

LGBTQ+ Parades or March: Pride events often kick off with a colourful parade or march, where participants walk, dance, and celebrate through the streets. The parade showcases a diverse range of LGBTQ+ individuals, community organizations, allies, and floats representing different causes.

What should I take to a Pride event?

    1) Raincoat

    CREDIT: chalabala / bigstock
    CREDIT: chalabala / bigstock

Pack a raincoat. I know it’s not sexy – make it a Vivienne Westwood if you have to, but the British weather can not be relied upon to be good. Make sure it has a hood – hair straighteners won’t work in the middle of a field in a portaloo.

    2) Battery Powerpack

Smartphones are amazing at capturing the moment whether it’s through pictures, face time or you being able to update your social about who’s doing who. The only problem is the battery never lasts long enough. So grab a power source.

    3) Medication

Only the legal sort. Take painkillers. Nothing kills the moment than a stinking hideous headache caused by whatever this year’s headliner is supposed to be. Also take any meds you take on a daily basis. Take a 24 hour supply – just in case you don’t go back to yours.

    4) Secret Tenner

Stuff it in your pants, or your socks or secret it away somewhere else. You’ll never know when it might come in handy.

    5) Uber

If you find yourself in a place you don’t know summon an Uber cab. If your area doesn’t yet have Uber then make sure you know the local cab firm’s telephone number or download their app. Make sure you have enough battery on your phone to make that call.

    6) Sun protection

Despite the fact that it’s overcast you can still get burnt to buggery so make sure you wear sunblock. If you’re looking for a sunblock that doesn’t go all white and sticky so you look like a sweaty pig – we suggest Image Skincare Prevention + daily matt moisturiser – expensive but well worth the extra.

    7) Condoms and lube

colorful condom on white background seven day a week

You might get lucky so bring some protection and you might even get lucky with more than one person so bring lots. If you don’t use them – share them with your mates – make sure they’re protected too!

    8) Spare undies

If you end up at someone else’s place you might want to bring a spare pair of undies – you know so the walk of shame isn’t so Ewwww.

    9) Antibacterial lotion

The last thing you want to do is pick up a bug from one of the many thousands of people who will attend Pride, so pick up some anti-bacterial lotion. Many of the portaloos provided at pride will also have anti-bacterial handwash for free.

    10) Ear plugs

Protect your eardrums. Sounds from the stage could well permanently damage your hearing – with noises louder than a Jumbo Jet taking off.

You’ll find booths, stalls, and information centres where you can learn about resources, support networks, and activism opportunities.
    3. Pride Merchandise: Pride events often feature vendors and stalls selling a wide range of merchandise, including rainbow flags, clothing, accessories, pins, stickers, and various LGBTQ+ pride-themed items. It’s a chance to show your support and purchase items that represent your identity and pride.
    4. Workshops and Panel Discussions: Many Pride events also host educational workshops, panel discussions, and speaker sessions covering various LGBTQ+ topics, such as activism, health and wellness, legal rights, and social issues. These provide opportunities for learning, dialogue, and community empowerment.
    5. Visibility and Expression: Pride events are known for their acceptance and celebration of diverse identities. Attendees often express themselves through colourful costumes, unique fashion, body art, and creative displays of individuality. Pride is a space where people feel free to be themselves without judgment.
    6. Inclusive Environment: Pride events strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for all attendees. They promote acceptance, respect, and equality for LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies. You can expect a supportive atmosphere where you can celebrate, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.
  • UK government apologises for anti-gay employment policies in the Armed forces

The UK’s government has apologised over what it called, “egregious” policies that banned gay and lesbian people from working in the armed forces.

The government issued a formal apology for the mistreatment of LGBT veterans, following the release of an independent review investigating the military’s ban on LGBT personnel before 2000.

The review, presented in Parliament, was initiated by the Ministry of Defence and the Office for Veterans Affairs and chaired by Lord Etherton. Its focus was to examine the experiences of individuals affected by the ban on homosexuality in the Armed Forces between 1967 and 2000.

    Unacceptable and regrettable

Previously, the government acknowledged that the treatment of LGBT personnel and veterans before 2000 was completely unacceptable and regrettable. The report by Lord Etherton revealed that investigations into individuals’ sexuality were intrusive and invasive, resulting in severe and long-lasting impacts on the lives of veterans and their families.

The government’s unwavering commitment to supporting veterans and the LGBT community was highlighted in the review. The Prime Minister and Defence Secretary offered a formal apology in the House of Commons today to all those who suffered under the ban.

The review focused on three main areas: the impact of the historical policy on affected individuals and their future lives, the accessibility of veterans’ services for LGBT people, and the full recognition and acceptance of LGBT veterans as valued members of the armed forces.

    Sunak expressed deep remorse

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak expressed deep remorse, acknowledging that the ban on LGBT individuals serving in the military until 2000 was a failure of the British state, lagging far behind the country’s laws. He recognized the immense suffering endured by many who faced sexual abuse, violence, and homophobic bullying while courageously serving their nation.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace was pleased that the review shed light on a shameful chapter in the Armed Forces’ history, acknowledging the denial of tolerance and values to many who served.

    Restoring medals, pension rights

Within the review, 49 recommendations were made, including the restoration of withheld medals, clarification of pension rights, and the presentation of the Veterans Badge, among others. The government accepted these recommendations in principle and committed to collaborating with LGBT veterans to ensure the appropriate implementation of restorative measures.

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Johnny Mercer viewed the apology as a historic moment to address past wrongs and honor the extraordinary service of LGBT veterans. He also emphasized the need to enhance support services for veterans impacted by the issues raised in the review.

Minister for Defence, People, Veterans, and Service Families, Dr. Andrew Murrison, acknowledged the wrongdoing and pledged to study the review’s recommendations to determine the government’s response.

Since 2000, the government has made significant strides in removing barriers and implementing initiatives to improve the experience of LGBT personnel. These include providing guides for parents of LGBT children, delivering LGBT allies training, and offering Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

The establishment of the Office for Veterans’ Affairs has also expanded support for all veterans as they transition out of the Armed Forces.

The review is a crucial part of the Government’s Veterans Strategy Action Plan, demonstrating its commitment to compassionately address historical hurt and disadvantage experienced by sections of the veteran community.

Furthermore, the government has extended the Home Office’s disregard and pardons scheme to ensure the expungement of convictions for same-sex sexual offences.

To support those impacted by the ban and today’s announcement, the Office for Veterans’ Affairs is providing £250,000 to LGBT organizations for offering support services to affected veterans. This is in addition to the £45,000 funding provided last year to help gather evidence for the review.

Craig Jones MBE, Executive Chair, and Caroline Paige, Chief Executive of Fighting With Pride, expressed relief that the voices of those who suffered under this abhorrent policy are finally heard and their truth acknowledged. They view the government’s apology as a significant step toward providing substantial reparations and ending this unjust and dishonourable chapter in history.

  • Kevin Spacey cleared of all sexual assault charges

Kevin Spacey cleared of all sexual assault charges

Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey couldn’t hold back his tears as he was acquitted of all charges in his sexual assault trial in London. The jurors at Southwark Crown Court returned not guilty verdicts for nine sexual offence charges involving four men from incidents spanning between 2001 and 2013. The deliberations took more than 12 hours, and Mr. Spacey expressed gratitude to the jury for their thorough examination of the evidence.

Outside the court, the Oscar winner humbly spoke about his feelings after the verdict, acknowledging that there was a lot for him to process. He thanked the jury for their careful consideration of all the facts and evidence before reaching their decision. The actor also expressed his appreciation to the courthouse staff and security for their support during the trial.

During the emotional moment when the verdict was read, Mr. Spacey placed his hand on his chest and mouthed “thank you” twice to the jurors as they left the room. The trial involved seven counts of sexual assault, one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent, all of which he was acquitted of.

During the trial, the jurors firmly rejected the prosecution’s claims against Mr. Spacey. The allegations included accusations that he had “aggressively” grabbed three men by the crotch and performed a sexual act on another man while he was asleep in his flat. However, the jury did not find sufficient evidence to support these claims.

The prosecutors had argued that Mr. Spacey’s actions left the four complainants feeling “small, diminished, and worthless.” But the jurors carefully considered the evidence presented and ultimately did not find the allegations convincing.

Throughout the trial, Mr. Spacey vehemently denied all charges, describing the accusations against him as “weak,” “madness,” and a “stab in the back.” His 64th birthday fell during the course of the proceedings. The actor maintained his innocence, and the jury’s verdict cleared him of all the sexual assault charges brought against him.

By law, all complainants are entitled to life-long anonymity.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) expressed its respect for the jury’s decision regarding the case. In a statement, a spokesperson emphasized that the role of the CPS is not to determine a person’s guilt in a criminal offence.

Instead, their responsibility is to conduct fair, independent, and objective assessments to determine whether charges should be brought forward.

The trial, which lasted nearly four weeks, featured the testimonies of multiple witnesses, including Mr. Spacey himself. Throughout the proceedings, the jury carefully considered the evidence presented before reaching their verdict. The outcome of the trial concluded with the actor being cleared of all charges, highlighting the importance of a thorough and impartial legal process.

  • Is there a nudist beach in Dorset?

    Oh yes there is.

Dorset is probably home to the most (in)famous nudist beach in the UK.

Studland has the image of naked men baked right into the title. The popular beach is packed come summertime, whether or not the weather is hot, so this is not the beach to come to if you’re looking for peace and solitude. The shy nudists out there might be better off trying a different beach if you’re still precarious about stripping off.

Studland Bay has a dedicated gay section which, whether you like it or not, has unsurprisingly become a popular cruising ground. Many voyeurists take to the dunes for a little slap and tickle of the bait and tackle before taking a cheeky skinny dip in the sea.

Admittedly, there’s been a bit of a tiff over gender balance at times, with male visitors seemingly claiming the limelight. Nevertheless, the general consensus is that everyone is warmly embraced, and all are made to feel right at home. So, whether you’re a seasoned nudist or a first-time skinny-dipper, this beach beckons with open arms and a breathtaking view of the sea and the city combined!

    What do the locals think?

Well, well, well, it seems like the reviews on TripAdvisor for this nudist beach are quite the mixed bag! Among the range of experiences, we stumbled upon one rather amusing tale from a visitor.

According to this bold adventurer, he and his wife decided to give this naturist beach a shot. Things started off rather peacefully, with an empty beach providing a seemingly serene setting. However, the peace was short-lived as soon as the wife decided to embrace her inner free spirit and shed her clothes. Within a mere 10 minutes, she became the centre of attention, drawing the gaze of several intrigued gents.

Now, while the husband might not have been too thrilled about the surplus of attention his better half received, he couldn’t deny the fact that the day turned out to be quite an eventful one. In his words, it evolved into a “good day on the beach playing with the guys.”

Well, it just goes to show that this nudist beach certainly has the power to make memories and create some unforgettable experiences for its visitors!

    Getting loose with Lucy

Ah, Lucy from Reigate seems to have embraced the liberating allure of the nudist beach with absolute grace and poise. Her candid account reveals a journey of courage and self-discovery in this unique environment.

Once she took that bold step to strike up conversations with fellow naturists, all inhibitions seemed to melt away. Lucy felt a profound sense of freedom, unburdened by the fear of judgment. It’s a testament to the welcoming atmosphere that nudist communities can foster.

Indeed, she noticed that the male presence was quite prominent, whether they were solo visitors, couples, or in groups. However, Lucy also appreciated the diverse mix of attendees, including single couples and groups of women. The feeling of ease was reinforced by seeing these diverse configurations, and she comfortably engaged in conversations, sunbathing, and swimming with them.

In addition to the warm social ambience, Lucy appreciated the efforts put into maintaining the beach’s cleanliness and accessibility. Whether one arrives by train, bus, or car, the journey to this naturist haven is smooth and straightforward.

Lucy’s experience beautifully captures the essence of this nudist beach: a place of acceptance, relaxation, and freedom where visitors can shed more than just their clothes—they can let go of societal expectations and simply be themselves.

It appears that the nudist beach’s male-dominated reputation is echoed by several other reviewers as well. However, amidst this fact, a first-time naturist visitor from London had an exceptional time at the beach.

    Brighton is Immersive and inclusive

For this adventurous couple, the trip was about seeking a tranquil day by the sea, opting for a lovely picnic and some relaxation. It was also their very first foray into the world of naturist beaches.

Their experience turned out to be nothing short of fantastically liberating. The couple found themselves in the company of like-minded individuals who embraced their nakedness with ease. However, what sets this beach apart is the non-intrusive nature of nudism. While many may choose to bare it all, the beach creates an atmosphere where everyone is welcome, regardless of whether they decide to stay clothed or disrobed.

Such an inclusive environment allowed the couple to truly immerse themselves in the moment, free from any pressure or judgment. This way, they could truly enjoy the experience and let their day unfold naturally, just like the sea waves lapping at the shore.

Ultimately, Brighton’s naturist beach proved to be a place where visitors could find freedom, acceptance, and the power to choose how they want to experience it—truly a gem among the coastal beauty of Sussex!
