Reading Pride creates funeral fundraiser for victims of Terror attack

An official fundraiser has been created by Reading Pride to help the families of James Furlong, Joe Ritchie-Bennett and David Wails who all sadly died after an attack in Reading over the weekend.

Reading Pride has already raised over £8,500 for the families of the three men who were killed in a terror incident. Nearly four hundred people have donated to the fundraiser, which has been created to help the families with the costs of the funerals.

    Permanent Tribute

It is also hoped that the funds raised will go towards a permanent tribute to the three men in Forbury Gardens in Reading town centre, where the three were killed.

The fundraiser page has a statement which reads,

“With the tragic event within our community in Reading on Saturday 20th June 2020, we’re hoping to raise some money and funds to help support the families for funeral costs.

“As well as a permanent tribute within Forbury Gardens, so everyone has a physical memento to remember the tragic loss of lives that have occurred.”

Three died, multiple people were injured

James Furlong, Joe Ritchie-Bennett and David Wails were all enjoying an evening in Forbury Gardens when, according to witnesses at the park, their attacker approached them and others, with what has been described as a 5-inch knife.

Chief Constable of the Thames Valley Police said,

“Following the tragic incident in Reading on Saturday night in which three innocent members of the public sadly lost their lives, I wanted to message our wider Thames Valley community to provide some reassurance at this difficult time.

“At this time Thames Valley Police and Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE), who are leading the investigation into the attack in Reading, do not believe there to be a wider risk to the public. I would like to reiterate that there is nothing to suggest that anyone else is involved in this offence and we are confident this is an isolated incident. In the past when there has been a terrorist attack, at home or abroad, we have seen the national terror threat level change increase. That has not happened in this case, which is confirmation of the security services assessment following this incident.

“Nevertheless, I understand that this incident will have caused great concern and I would like to reassure you that my officers and staff continue to be present in your area, responding to emergencies and safeguarding the vulnerable. You may see more officers out and about during this time; do not be alarmed by this, they are there for your reassurance. Please do approach them if you have any questions or concerns.”

  • DILEMMA | I get a jagged pain when using a butt toy

DILEMMA | I get a jagged pain when using a butt toy

    Dear Uncle,

I’ve been using a butt plug and dildo, 5 and 7.5 inches respectively. I’ve used them in the way to get used to the feeling of a penis in my butt, but I get a jaggy sensation when I’m using them. it’s not that comfortable. I don’t get that feeling when I’m with a partner. Am I doing something wrong?

    Rocket

    Hey there Rocket

There’s a couple of things to consider here: size, material and of course, lube.

Firstly size, you mention the length, but not the circumference. Five inches might not seem that long, but if it’s as wide as a traffic cone, that might well be your issue.

As with anything you insert into your butt, you need to take your time, especially if it’s wide. If you want to get a wider toy, you could always try anal trainers/dilators, which can help you “train” your ass to take bigger objects, but you have to start small.

If you push anything, a toy, a cock, in too quickly, you’re actually at risk of butt-related injuries including tears.

Secondly, the material… Do you know what materials your toys are made out of? It could be the case that you’re having an allergic reaction to the materials used in the toy. Latex can, in some people, cause a nasty reaction. So it might be worth investigating this.

This could also go for the lube you’re using. Is it the same as the lube you use during anal sex?

A jagged feeling could mean that you’ve got some skin tears in or around your anus or even piles. Don’t fret. Tears can heal on their own, you just need to quit playing with your toys for a while and piles can be sorted with a good haemorrhoid treatment.

If in doubt, please don’t hesitate to speak to your doctor.

Always, use lots of lube and take your time, exploring what feels good and, it really goes without saying, if it hurts stop doing it.

  • Gay clubs and saunas to remain closed, as lockdown eases for other sectors

Gay clubs and saunas to remain closed, as lockdown eases for other sectors

In a blow to the LGBT+ economy, gay bathhouses and clubs will be unable to open when huge parts of the economy will be allowed to open on the 4th of July.

As the majority of England’s businesses prepare to reopen at the beginning of next month, following months of closure, because of COVID-19 certain sectors, including nightclubs and spas (which includes gay bathhouses) will not be allowed to reopen, the government has confirmed.

It had been hoped that saunas and clubs would be allowed to reopen on the 4th July, however, there are a number of businesses which cannot open until further notice, due to the possibility of infection spread.

What cannot open from 4 July?

The following places will remain closed by law

    • Nightclubs and casinos
    • Bowling alleys and indoor skating rinks
    • Indoor play areas including soft-play
    • Spas
    • Nail bars and beauty salons
    • Massage, tattoo and piercing parlours
    • Indoor fitness and dance studios, and indoor gyms and sports venues/facilities
    • Swimming pools and water parks
    • Exhibition or conference centres – other than for those who work for that venue

Can more businesses open in the rest of the UK?

There are different rules in place for Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, all of which are considered stricter and tighter than England’s lockdown easement.

    Gay Bars can open

However in some welcome news, some LGBT+ spaces, including pubs, bars and theatres will be able to open, but only if certain criteria is met.

Pubs and bars will be able to open only if they offer table service or have outside seating spaces. Customers will also have to leave their contact details to help with contract tracing.

Katie Hopkins shares the reason why Twitter suspended her account

The controversial commentator, Katie Hopkins, has shared the reason why Twitter decided to suspend her account, and according to her, it’s over one Tweet in reply to a rugby player, Ashton Hewitt.

Katie Hopkins has used her last mainstream social platform, Instagram, to share the reason why Twitter suspended her account, which had grown to over 1.1 million followers.

According to Hopkins, Twitter had said that it had only “suspended” her.

In a quick video on the platform, Hopkins shared the contents of the tweet, which was the final nail in her Twitter coffin, in which she used the phrase, she claims was from the BBC / Rowan Atkinson comedy, Blackadder, “Hung like a baboon”.

It was in answer to a Tweet from Rugby player Ashton Hewitt who called Hopkins “fucking toxic”.

Last week, Twitter announced that it had permanently suspended Hopkins, causing her name to trend on Twitter for over 24 hours.

Of course, it’s not the first time Hopkins has trended on Twitter or lost her standing on a platform after numerous controversial comments.

In response Mr Hewitt took to twitter to add, “Didn’t realise I was actually the reason for Katie Hopkins getting suspended from Twitter”.

  • Is there a nudist beach in Brighton?

Yes there is a nudist beach in Brighton and here’s where to find it

Originally opened in 1979, Brighton’s nudist beach is one of the most popular and most accessible nudist beaches in the UK.

And since it’s Brighton and involves public nudity, the beach is hugely popular with the gay community. Despite the fact that the beach itself is one of shingle and pebbles, it remains one of the UK’s busiest naturist spots.

So be sure to bring flip-flops and a particularly comfortable towel if you’re planning on sunning your bits in Brighton.

    Where is Brighton’s Nudist Beach?

if you’re wondering how to find it – if you’re looking at the Pier (out to sea) the beach is a little way up the beach to the left, towards Duke’s Mound.

Is there cruising at Brighton’s nudist beach?

So there you have it, there is a nudist beach in Brighton and it happens to be very popular with the LGBT+ community, but as our Travel Expert, Nick Baker warns, don’t expect that just because a beach is particularly popular with gay men, to expect there to be a lot of cruising. He told us,

“Just remember that not all nudist beaches are gay beaches, and not all gay nudist beaches are ok with other “activities”. A nudist beach is not always an excuse to go dogging”.

Being naked at a Nudist Beach in Brighton is not illegal, but you have to be careful about cruising.

Public nudity is generally not legal in England, except in certain specific circumstances. The laws around public nudity are complex, but as a general rule, it is illegal to expose one’s genitals, buttocks or breasts in public places where other people could see them. This includes on the street, in parks, on beaches, and in other public spaces.

There are some exceptions, such as during events like the World Naked Bike Ride, where participants are allowed to cycle naked through the streets of some cities. There are also designated nudist beaches where nudity is permitted, although it is important to note that even on these beaches, sexual behaviour or lewd conduct is not allowed and may result in criminal charges.

In summary, public nudity is generally not legal in England and those who do so may face criminal charges unless it falls under specific exceptions.

  • Katie Hopkins’ fall from public view almost complete, after Twitter suspends her account

Katie Hopkins’ fall from public view almost complete, after Twitter suspends her account

Twitter has suspended the right-wing reality-star turned political commentator, Katie Hopkins for “hateful conduct”.

It was one of her last platforms, but now Katie Hopkins finds herself without a Twitter account, losing access to over 1 million followers, a milestone she reached in September 2019.

A spokesperson from Twitter said, “Keeping Twitter safe is a top priority for us – abuse and hateful conduct have no place on our service and we will continue to take action when our rules are broken.

“In this case, the account has been permanently suspended for violations of our hateful conduct policy.”

The former reality star (Apprentice, Celebrity Big Brother) has had her twitter account permanently suspended for violating Twitter’s policies.

Hopkins has lost a number of jobs and positions due to her controversial nature and comments. In May 2017 her contract with the radio station LBC was ripped up and both the Daily Mail and The Sun, for whom she wrote columns for, also failed to renew contracts with her.

In recent times Hopkins has turned her attention to transgender issues, regularly commenting on the LGBT+ rights movement.

In January 2019 she published a limerick which included a transphobic slur aimed at Humberside police after the force revealed that they would always investigate reports of potential hate crime, which includes transphobia.

In 2018 she tweeted that she though that the Girl Guides were “imploding” due to trans rights

In 2018 Hopkins was sued by journalist Jack Monroe. Hopkins was forced into an IVA in order to avoid bankruptcy after losing the case.

Hopkins was ordered to pay Monroe £24,000 in damages and legal costs after a court found that comments made about Monroe were libellous.

Hopkins still maintains an Instagram account. She has around 72,000 followers on that platform.

  • This gay sauna has outlined how things might work after lockdown eases

This gay sauna has outlined how things might work after lockdown eases

Booking time slots, having the building to yourself and temperature checks is how one gay sauna is saying how it will operate until the COVID-19 pandemic has subsided enough for life to go back to normal.

As parts of the LGBT+ economy is starting to awaken from the COVID-19 Lockdown, with the return of gay sex and lifestyle shops this week, other sectors, such as bars, clubs and saunas are still having to wait their turn to open.

So far the UK’s government have not set a date for when businesses such as saunas might be able to reopen in England. In Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, the devolved governments have ultimate say over when businesses may open. However, it is thought that businesses like sauna may be able to reopen from the 4th of July, in England.

However, despite this, the interest of gay saunas has increased week by week here on THEGAYUK, with the search for sauna openings and locations surging 152 per cent from May to June.

One sauna, the Wolf Spa in Nottingham has laid out some of its plans for operations post lockdown.

In a post on Facebook, the sauna’s management wrote, that it “may be opening on the 4th” depending on advice from the government. But when it opens it will be a very different experience, with the sauna opening only for massage, manscaping and waxing – for singles or couples from the same household.

The spa would be open for private use for visitors from the same household.

The venue advised that “Booking via the website would be essential and that no one else would be in the spa”.

Temperature checks when you enter the building

The spa also suggested that temperature checks might take place for those entering the venue, to ensure that no one has an active fever or raised temperature.

A statement on the website states,

“We are closely monitoring the government’s statements and following their guidelines we are planning on re-opening our doors again on Saturday, 4th July 2020. That being said, when we do re-open we will only be offering Massages/Manscaping/Waxing & Body Scrubs.

“Clients who book one of our therapies will be able to use the facilities of the spa such as the steam room/sauna/jacuzzi – however apart from a member of staff they will be the only other person in the spa.

“We will be allowing clients to use the spa facilities without booking one of our therapies but they will have to be a member of Wolf Spa.”

THEGAYUK.com reached out to a number of other venues for their policies ready for a possible opening on the 4th July.
