    Henry Gamble’s Birthday Party

HENRY GAMBLE’S BIRTHDAY PARTY is an exhilarating ensemble drama centred around the seventeenth birthday of megachurch preacher’s son Henry Gamble. At once a poignant coming-of-age tale and provocative portrait of a community, riotous party movie and deeply moving family drama, many threads weave this vast tapestry. At the center of this world lies the confident, music-loving Henry, floating in a world of sexual possibility; his sister Autumn, caught between the spiritual and physical; preacher’s wife Kat, reeling from an affair with an older man and aching for her own identity; and, finally, Bob, evangelical star on the rise, typically optimistic, but sensing his family drifting away. Providing humorous and heartbreaking counterpoint to the Gambles story is a cast of characters from church and school, all trying to wade their way through life, spirituality and identity in the 21st century. Inspired by films as diverse as RACHEL GETTING MARRIED, RISKY BUSINESS and THE ICE STORM, bursting at the seams with music and throbbing with fundamental human emotions, HENRY GAMBLE’S BIRTHDAY PARTY will be an overwhelming experience that audiences will want to return to time and time again.

  • Are you funding hate?

A brand new firm has launched today with the intention of investing customers’ money into pro-LGBT+ companies and countries.

Most people are totally unaware that they could be unknowingly propping up anti-gay governments, companies or organisations when they invest their pensions and investment portfolios into an investment management company. Most investors have no idea where their hard earned cash could be going when they employ the services of an investment firm for a good return.

Equality Capital has launched today to ensure that customers’ money is invested into ethical organisations that are paving the way for LGBT equality across the world.

Using a six key criteria formula the British firm will invest in opportunities that make positive differences to gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans peoples’ lives.

Charlie Nicholls, the firm’s managing partner said,

“We aim to create a like-minded community of investors who care about LGBT positive rights and equality. Our social commitment doesn’t hinder our ability to earn attractive returns for our clients, in fact it improves them as there are many opportunities in LGBT friendly markets.”

The Equality Capital site will go live on Wednesday 08 March 2017. Equality Capital will act as Financial Advisors and Discretionary Investment Managers, but can also work with existing Financial Advisors in an intermediary role – meaning clients moving over to the service can keep their existing advisors if they wish.

This artist has done something amazing with all of Donald Trump’s hate

Manchester artist Conor Collins has created a painting which uses quotes from Donald Trump and it’s pretty stunning.

Using the President’s own words on women and race, artist Conor Collins has created a stunning picture of Donald Trump. In the past, the artist has created images from the homophobia leveled at Tom Daley when he first came out as gay and the transphobia hurled at Caitlyn Jenner, when she announced her transition.

Now the artist has put Donald Trump in his sights and told THEGAYUK.com that he had created a portrait of Donald Trump composed using the racist, sexist, ignorant and bigoted things he has said painted onto a wall of white washed dollars.

Liam McAlpine from Fife in Scotland was found dead at his home on Sunday afternoon. He was just 14. Before his death he had recorded and published a number of videos on YouTube about being gay and the bullying he had been a victim of.

In his first video, Liam spoke about coming out and speculated that he would be ridiculed for being gay from some of his classmates.

In his coming out video he said,

“For three years I have been gay, go ahead and judge me, I don’t care… My true friends will stick by me, fake friends, will just f**k off and leave me behind… That’s who I am, I’m proud to be gay”.

In a second video entitled “Bullying” he gave a heartbreaking speech urging those who are bullied to reach out to “someone who could help you… friends, teachers – someone who can help you through the situation, even a police officer”.

He said, “You don’t go to school to get bullied everyday. You go to learn. School is meant to be a safe place but getting bullied everyday and picked on, is that really safe?”

Liam was publishing videos as recently as last week.

The Daily Record is suggesting that there is wide-spread speculation that he took his own life. The police are treating his death as “unexplained”.

    A Police Scotland spokesperson said,

“Police in Fife are investigating following the death of a 14-year-old boy at an address in Elgin Drive, Glenrothes .

“The incident was reported to police around 3.40pm on Sunday, March 5.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing.

Revelations which have appeared in the press, following the singer’s death about his alleged drug usage now seem unfounded after the corner returned a death by natural causes verdict.

The singer who passed away on Christmas day died after suffering a dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver. There will not be an inquest as the cause of death was “natural”.

At the time of his death, police said his death was not suspicious, but unexplained. An initial autopsy completed on the body of the singer proved to be “inconclusive”.

Which country’s men lied most about their penis size

Apparently, if you want a man to lie ask him the length of his penis.

which men are most likely to lie about their penis size

SaucyDates have conducted a survey to find out which country’s men are most likely to exaggerate the size of their manhoods. The site asked men their penis sizes and then asked women, “what was the size of the penis of the last man you had sex with”.

It’s all very sciency – and of course, we’re riveted.

So men in the United States were most likely to lie about the length – saying that their penises were 7.2 inches long – when in actuality, the women they slept with said the penises were only 6.6 inches long.

However, the most exaggerated claims came from Austrailian men, who said their manhoods were 7.09 inches long. The women weren’t having any of it and said that the dicks were only 5.58 inches. Making them, apparently, the least honest about their size.

    ALSO READ:

Only 3.6% of British men lied about their size in which they claimed that their size was 6.89 inches when in reality women thought they were more like 6.64 inches.

It’s all very precise and we’re wondering how these women measured and what technique they busted out mid-sex in order to get an accurate measurement.

Indian men were the most likely to undersell their penis size by nearly 4 per cent.

    University bans the word Homosexual

Cardiff Metropolitan university has issued its staff and students with guidance banning the word “homosexual”.

    Gay Couple © wtamas Depositphotos

The Cardiff Metropolitan University has told its 1,200 staff and over 11,000 students that the word homosexual should no longer be used and that lesbian and gay relationships should be referred to as “same-sex” or “other-sex” relationships.

It has said that it wishes to “raise awareness amongst staff and students of the importance of using appropriate language”.

In the code of practice, it says that homosexual seems, “laden with with the values of a previous time” and calls on faculty and students to dump other terms like “husband” and “wife”, and use “partner” instead.

    ALSO READ:

The university, which turns over £98,000,000 a year said that, “Complaints about the excesses of so-called ‘political correctness’ and their impact on organisational cultures are not new,”

“For Cardiff Met, though, academic freedom and the celebration of diversity are cornerstones of University life – and are entirely compatible with each other.

“The University has a joined-up approach to providing a positive working environment, free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation.

“As part of this approach, the University has a Code of Practice on Using Inclusive Language, which sets out to promote fairness and equality by raising awareness about the effects of potentially discriminatory vocabulary.

“It makes suggestions for the avoidance of inappropriate generalisations and provides some illustrative examples of gender-laden vocabulary with some neutral alternatives.”

Editor of THEGAYUK Jake Hook said,

“Although I commend Cardiff Metropolitan University for being thoughtful on the power of words and their meanings, I do wonder what consultation process this code was subjected to. There have been many times where the word homosexual has been used as an empowering term and has a rich history of a statement of intent or empowerment.

“I would rather a conversation about language rather than an outright ban or policing of words, especially when some may wish to use those words for themselves”.

  • 7 ways to avoid the afternoon energy slump

Research by BRITA has revealed that we all feel an energy slump around 4pm, so we often reach for a sugary snack to keep us going until dinner. To encourage us to have healthier habits, BRITA has launched Pour O’Clock, suggesting that we pick up a glass of water mid-afternoon instead of snacking on something unhealthy.

Nutritionist Jo Travers shares her tips for making sure you don’t feel tempted to dip into the biscuit tin at 4 PM.

    1. Eat three meals a day

Eating regularly will sure you get the necessary nutrients to keep your bodies running smoothly. It’ll also keep blood glucose levels even, so you don’t feel that slump in energy.

    2. Don’t skip breakfast

Make sure you get a good breakfast, no matter how busy you are. This will make sure that your body isn’t craving nutrients throughout the day, making that afternoon snack attack less likely to occur.

    3. Go for a stroll

Keeping active is great for muscle tone and heart health and will also help keep your weight in check. Go for a stroll to take your mind off unhealthy foods and you’ll also improve your circulation, making you feel healthier all round.

    4. Get your five a day

Fibre, fluid and movement are all essential for a healthy digestive system. Vitamins and minerals from fruit and veg are needed for every process in the body so not getting at least five portions a day could be compromising your health.

    7. Team up with a friend

Avoiding the biscuit tin can be hard if everyone else is tempting you towards it. Team up with a friend to support each other in staying healthy and happy.

    5. Drink a glass of water

Hydration is important as it has an impact on our productivity and concentration. Getting thirsty is actually one of the very last physical effects dehydration has on the body so the damage may have already begun. Learning to identify the other signs of dehydration, like dry eyes or lack of concentration, will help avoid it.

    6. Treat yourself

Give yourself a non-food related treat by doing something you enjoy for five minutes at 4pm. We often snack because we are bored, so listen to a song you like or read a few pages of a book to divert your attention from something sugary.
