A father and son take an adventure of a lifetime in My Dad’s Gap Year.
Now playing at the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park, My Dad’s Gap Year is a hilarious comedy about a father trying to bond with his conservative gay teenage son while going through a mid-life crises. Dave (Adam Lannon), dad of 18-year old William (Alex Britt), feels it’s time for them to sow their wild oats. But uptight William is not so wild, he frowns upon everything his unemployed dad does, which includes lying around the messy house not being productive. Meanwhile, William’s mom and Dave’s ex wife Cath (Michelle Collins), being the sensible one, holds a full-time job while maintaining an arm’s length relationship with Dave. But when Dave, at the very last minute, persuades William to go with him to Thailand for some father and son bonding and fun, them, and Cath, have no idea who sort of adventure, and trouble, Dave and William will get into.
But once in Thailand, William meets cute architect Matias (Max Percy), while Dave meets beautiful Mae (a lovely Victoria Gigante). While Williams falls head over heals for Matias, Dave does the same for Mae, who works at a bar where all the ‘women there were born boys.’ But Dave’s drinking problem never goes away, while William has his own personal meltdown, leaving Cath to go to Thailand to do damage control.
My Dad’s Gap Year is a fun show with a great cast. At only 90 minutes, it’s crisply directed (by Rikki Beadle-Blair) with funny dialogue and actors who deliver their lines perfectly. And while the show wraps up a bit too neatly at the end, all the actors are very good throughout. Lannon is very good as the father, Collins gives the show extra spark, but it’s Gigante who is extra special as Mae, a girl who just wants to have a happy life.

Shooting a porn takes a long time, there are loads of things to think about… angles, lighting, press shots, pack shots for the DVD (who still buys porn DVDs?). The lists go on, but the performers have to stay hard – sometimes for hours on end. So how do they do it?
Firstly there are the oral meds that performers can take. Viagra for instance.
Pornstar Michael McLachlan told us, “Yes, of course, we take pills to help us get hard and stay hard during filming. Some scenes can take 3 hours some can take 5 hours. We have to do all the still images and promotional images that day also for DVD covers etc. So yeah we need something to sustain an erection while taking photos and no sexual stimulation is happening. Some guys take it one step further and use injectables, directly into their penises, which can cause erections without arousal. An “anonymous” legal rep for a gay porn star told Quora users, “Liquid ED drugs are injected straight into the penis. It lasts for 6-8 hours.
Fluffers?
Remember the term “fluffers”, well apparently studios used to hire someone specifically to get the guy ready and up before the scene’s start.
Our anon legal rep continues, “… and fluffers were used to keep male actors hard. Before you ask, a fluffer is a male or female who fellates (gives oral sex) the actor’s penis just long enough to keep it aroused. In the 70s and 80s were actually hired and regularly paid to be “at the ready”
Then there are the pumps. Pumps aren’t used that often because overusing them can actually be dangerous, and could lead to bust a blood vessel in the peen. Not nice.
Then there’s always editing. You know a scene might last more than a day. The stars may actually cum quite early on in the day and then come back to it, later on, to do different angles and positions later on in the day.

For example, directors shoot multiple takes and lots of footage just to create one 20 minute scene.

Boyzone took a moment to remember their fallen bandmate and “brother” Stephen Gately.

The nineties and noughties boy-turned man band, Boyzone, showed that they still have and hold Stephen Gately forever in their hearts. The band, who are on their final tour, took a moment, at their latest show in Leeds, to remember their “brother” Stephen Gately, who sadly died in 2009 when he was just 33.
The band is currently celebrating their 25th anniversary in the music business.
In a simple message on their official Twitter page, the band, shared an intimate picture of the four remaining members, Keith Duffy, Michael Graham, Shane Lynch and Ronan Keating in an heartfelt embrace, with the simple message, “Our moment for our brother”.
Stephen Gately, who came out as gay in a blaze of publicity in 1999 was found dead at his home in Mallorca in October 2009. This year will be the 10th anniversary of his passing. His death was determined to have been caused by pulmonary oedema, resulting from an undiagnosed heart condition.
In 1999 there were very few out and openly gay musicians, particularly in boybands. He decided to come out via the press after discovering that someone he knew was planning to sell a story detailing his sexuality to the media.

Popstar and Voice mentor, Olly Murs has stunned his fans by stripping down and running almost starkers into the snow in his back garden.
As most people in the UK are wrapping up warm as temperatures plunged to below -10c in some areas, Olly Murs decided to go for a nearnude walk and dance in his back garden. “Cold As Ice” played on his phone. Getting up from the lawn and hugging his torso he shouted “Don’t try this at home!” to his millions of fans.

You might not like to hear what I am about to tell you, but it is the truth:
You are the only one who can fix this situation, and it is not going to be easy.
Step 1. Break up with your Grindr date.
It is clear that you have no interest in him, and are only hanging on to him because you are afraid of dumping him. Why is this? Is he your back up because you are afraid to be alone if your boyfriend breaks up with you? It is clear from what you wrote that you don’t like him – you say so yourself. Let him go, but kindly, as this situation is not fair on him.
Just remember, be kind: he did not ask to be part of your problem.
Step 2: Win back your boyfriend.
You said things have been a little stale: have you ever asked your boyfriend if he feels the same? Chances are he feels comfortable. But it could also be that he feels the same.
Either way, you could try and bring a new dimension to your relationship: plan a few date nights, look for new ways to spice up your sex life (make sure that the both of you enjoy what you get up to as no-one should sacrifice themselves for the others enjoyment), maybe try role-play or something. Do new fun stuff together, cooking classes, theatre or anything you’d both like to try out.
Step 3 Your conscience.
This step should, to all intents and purposes come before step 2, because it’s the biggest step of all: will you tell your boyfriend about what happened? This is entirely on you, but the decision you make has to be made now, and once you make it you have to stick to it and deal with any consequences.
If you don’t tell him and are certain he has no idea about what happened chances are that, if you put in the effort you can save the relationship. But bear in mind that you can’t go back on this if you feel guilt overwhelm you months/years later.
Confessing it asap in a kind, gentle way at the right time, making sure they know how terrible you feel about it could see you forgiven in the long run. Don’t count on things to be rosy immediately, though and don’t rush your partner in his feelings. Let him be the one to say if they’re ready to start again or if he needs a break.

A rainbow flag will be raised on Friday, 1 February outside Bradford’s City Hall, to mark the start of LGBT history month 2019. Events will be taking place throughout the month.
The flag will be raised at Bradford Council’s Centenary Square flagpoles. All are welcome to attend the ceremony, at 10am on 1 February.
LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans) history month is held in February each year to celebrate and recognise LGBT+ people and culture, past and present. This year’s theme is Peace, Activism and Reconciliation.
Bradford Council’s Youth Service will be marking LGBT history month with a series of youth group sessions throughout the month focussing on LGBT+ themes.
The Youth Service sessions during February will also include the Colours Youth Movement group, aimed at LGBT+ young people who are from black and minority ethnic groups.
Organisations are putting on events to celebrate LGBT history month.
Events going on in Bradford LGBT History Month
West Yorkshire Queer Stories, a collaboration between Brick Box Rooms and Leeds Queer Film Festival, is hosting a night of queer short films from 7pm on Thursday, 14 February at The Brick Box Rooms on Ivegate, Bradford.
At the same venue, Brick Box Rooms will be hosting their own ‘Strike a Pose’ night, with a film screening, vogue dance workshop and party. This will be from 7pm on Saturday, 16 February.
Bradford College is providing a programme of films, documentaries, exhibitions and workshops. A highlight will be a lunchtime screening on Wednesday, 13 February of the documentary Invisible Women, ‘the story of two LGBTQ revolutionaries’. This will be followed by questions with Angela Cooper, one of the extraordinary women featured in the 25 minute film.
Kala Sangam, working with the Peace Museum, will present a performance of Ice&Fire Theatre Company’s production This Is Who I Am, on Thursday, 21 February. The show offers first-hand accounts of LGBT+ people seeking asylum in the UK, read by members of the Actors for Human Rights Network. There will also be a post-show discussion.
The sexual health charity MESMAC will provide a number of information events, workshops and training throughout the month, at venues including Bradford Council, Bradford College and the University of Bradford.
Bradford Council will be supporting LGBT history month on social media, including on its Instagram account BradfordYouthVoice.
Coun Richard Dunbar, Bradford Council’s LGBT+ Champion, said: “In Bradford, yet again, we prove what an exciting, vibrant and welcoming district we are, with this programme for LGBT history month. There is something for everyone: film screenings, debates, plays and even a vogueing workshop!
“The golden thread which runs through our month of activities is an understanding of the struggles that the LGBT+ community has endured, but also a celebration of what we have achieved. That is why we place so much emphasis on support groups to ensure those who need the help have someone to turn to.
“Bradford Council is proud of the diversity of the people and organisations involved, including Equity Partnership, MESMAC, The Brick Box, Bradford Council’s Youth Service, Kala Sangam, The Peace Museum and Bradford College to name but a few. This is going to be a great month, do come and join us.”
Coun Abdul Jabar, Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, said: “LGBT history month is all about celebrating solidarity and difference. We are delighted to be raising the LGBT flag again to show our support for inclusivity and tolerance of all people.”
Kersten England, Bradford Council’s Chief Executive, said: “Raising the flag for LGBT history month shows our support for events happening locally across the district, and demonstrates nationally how we are backing the aims of LGBT equality. Thank you to our partners across the district who are providing a packed programme of fun and educational events.
“I’m particularly proud of the work our Youth Service is doing during LGBT history month and indeed all year round. Young people can feel very vulnerable as they start to grow as people and understand themselves. Providing much needed support, a safe space for young people to discuss their worries, and a place to meet friends can be life-changing.”

There are a number of products on the market that promise to numb your booty before anal sex… but do they work?
In a way, yes they do. Well, at least the one I road-tested did!
I recently tried a numbing lube. As it turns out, it does numb, but is that a good thing?
There are many reasons why someone might want to try out using a numbing lube. Perhaps you’re scared about your first time, perhaps you just find anal sex too painful, maybe the guy you’re with is packing something extra big, maybe you’re going to be using an extra-large toy.
Before going down the numbing lube path, you might want to take heed from Doctor Evan Goldstein of Bespoke Surgical who gave a warning against the use of numbing gels or lubes – especially if you’re planning to take something huge up your ass. He said the problem with the numbing lube is that if you’re doing damage to yourself, you might not feel it.
He said, “A lot of people are using numbing lubricants or poppers or other to relax, and the reality of that, is that it leads to injury because a lot of people don’t feel the trauma happening”.
But as long as you’re aware of this factor, you should be okay.
So how to proceed?

I don’t know about you, but I like to warm up first so to speak. Maybe a little toy play by myself before allowing a real-life dick in. I do this so when we get down to it the actual penetration doesn’t take so long – or having that horrendous sharp stabbing pain that you can get if you’re not completely relaxed – it’s a complete mood killer.
The first time I tried the numbing lube I used it on my fingers first before putting it on the toy, I normally use to get myself ready. It’s worth noting that numbing lube takes a little while to anesthetise the area, around about five to 10 minutes. When I went to put in the toy, I didn’t really feel anything. In fact, it just seemed to slide all the way in.
The actual sex? Well, it was rougher and I could take it for much longer than usual. All good in my books!
So do you actually still get pleasure?
Yes, strangely you do. The G-spot doesn’t seem to be affected by the application of the lube, I guess because it’s not actually exposed to the lube.
Any downside?

However, it was afterwards that was most uncomfortable for me. When the numbing wore off. I felt like I had been well and truly rammed by a traffic cone and it lasted for quite a while, whereas normally after anal sex, I don’t get any ache or pain.
I put this down to the fact that I really hadn’t warmed myself up before. Normally I take things slowly to make sure the muscles are all relaxed.
So my advice is, to warm yourself up with just normal lube first, then when you feel comfortable, insert the numbing lube up inside you as far as you can get it. You could even try a lube syringe or a lube launcher, which will help place the lube right where it needs to be. You can then also put some on and around your hole to help with getting past the first ring!
You may want to try and minimise the contact with your top’s penis, however, because if it numbs your ass, it will also numb his dick, so be sure to wear a condom, or first put a layer of non-numbing lube on his dick first before he enters you.

The unsolved 2010 murder of Gareth Williams is the focus of a new show called ‘Kompromat’ now playing at The Vaults as part of their Vault Festival 2019.

Williams was found dead in his Pimlico flat, naked and stuffed into a red bag. Foul play was the expected cause death as there was no way that he could’ve zipped himself in that bag on his own. Kompromat goes so far as to suggest that Williams, who was suspected of being gay, was targeted by another man, someone he hooked up with at a gay bar, and took him back home, and that this hook-up would be William’s last one. Max Rinehart plays Zac, goodlooking and convincing, enough so that any gay man would be lucky to take him home. Zac is very confident, and as we get to learn, he’s been around the block a few times, and as his story unravels, so does the soon to be shortened life of Tom.
