  • Meet the 12 guys who stripped off for a brand new calendar, celebrating body positivity in 2020

Meet the 12 guys who stripped off for a brand new calendar, celebrating body positivity in 2020

In what they’re dubbing positive masculinity, the tackle calendar aims to reshape the conversation about what it means to be a man in the two thousand twenties through photography.

12 guys from around the UK stripped off to show that all bodies are beautiful regardless of your age, size or skin tone.

The calendar is also launching a photo magazine in 2021 and will feature lots of guys in their homes, in the nude to challenge the notion of toxic masculinity and impossible body expectations that you might see in mainstream media.

The tackle calendar was shot over a period of 2 months (when lockdown restrictions eased) and featuring 12 men, of all ages, backgrounds and ethnicities from across the UK.

Speaking about the new tackle project, which is an offshoot of the Naked Rugby Players, photographer and Art Director, Jake Hook said, “It was really important for us to keep pushing the message that every body is important, valid and beautiful and we want to celebrate normal bodies in media.

Media gives us “unrealistic ideals of what our bodies should look like”

“While representation of “ordinary” bodies is improving in the media, we are still bombarded with unrealistic ideals of what our bodies should look like, and it’s just not good for our mental health, self-esteem or well-being. There’s still a lot to do to ensure that we can all feel comfortable in our own skin. We think we’ve found some incredible guys, brave enough to strip off for us to prove, no matter your age, your size or your skin tone, your body is wonderful”.

A donation from each sale from the calendar will go to Balls To Cancer and is available from their website, and Amazon.

London’s Queer cabaret collectives take over Pleasance Islington this festive season

‘Tis the season to be Queer. The crème de la crème of London’s Queer cabaret groups are taking over the Pleasance this December for a festive celebration of London’s renowned drag, cabaret, and performance scene. This year the venue welcomes a diverse representation of the LGBTQ+ community, with drag kings, queens and gender non-conforming artists all taking to the stage.

Following on from two acclaimed residencies at the Pleasance with Sink The Pink, Ginger Johnson is back for an evening of camp laughs, filthy looks, and all the usual shiny shit you’ve come to expect from Pleasance’s own Christmas tree angel. All-female and non-binary theatre and cabaret company Pecs Drag Kings visit Pleasance for the first time with Pecs: Christmas Queer before the one and only Cocoa Butter Club promise to decolonise and remoisturise in a brand-new Christmas revue, Gifted. Acclaimed pan-Asian collective The Bitten Peach will bring the festivities to a close and enchant audiences with their Bedtime Stories

Embracing the new normal, the venue has transformed its main house into London’s most exciting, socially distanced comedy, theatre and cabaret space. The new three-tier auditorium will welcome 100 people a night when it reopens in November, bringing the spirit of the Fringe back to London.

The venue will follow up-to-date safety regulations with e-ticketing, enhanced cleaning and table service using the app Butlr to provide drinks as well as new pizzas from neighbours The Depot. The auditorium will open one hour before each performance to give audiences time to settle in and enjoy some pre-show drinks ensuring you can spend your whole evening at the venue in style. A trip to the Pleasance promises to be a fun and safe night out.

Anthony Alderson, Director of Pleasance Theatre Trust, comments, I’m thrilled that we are re-opening the London space and managing to bring theatre back to London audiences. We have put strict hygiene and cleanliness protocols in place and are making sure that your visit to the Pleasance is as safe as possible. The artists we work with are at the heart of what we do and this re-opening season is all about bringing back that undefinable Fringe spirit that embodies all of us.

  • FILM REVIEW | Patrick – Clothes not needed

FILM REVIEW | Patrick – Clothes not needed

    Rating: 3 out of 5.

Patrick has lost his hammer, and he’s also lost his clothes!

You see Patrick (Kevin Jannsens), in the new film simply called ‘Patrick,’ works at a nudist camp deep in the woods in a remote area in Belgium. It’s a nudist camp his father owns, and where, along with his mother, all share a home in the camp. His mother is blind and his father is getting a bit too old to run the camp. Then one day Patrick notices that one of his hammers is gone, so he spends the entire film in search of his hammer (yes, literally a hammer). Patrick goes from tent to tent in the hopes of finding his hammer – he so obsessed about it that when his father suddenly dies, Patrick still has only one thing on his mind  – yes you guessed it –  to find his hammer.

The nudist camp is full of characters, all naked all the time. After a bit, the nudity becomes a bit unnoticeable and the storyline gets quirkier and quirkier, including when a famous American musician takes up a spot in the camp who perhaps knows a thing to two about the hammer. Also about to be revealed is a secret his father had, and his mother’s knowledge about the secret. But Patrick is oblivious to the whole thing – he just wants his hammer back. From Peaky Blinders director Tim Mielants, Patrick is quirky, a bit funny, and definitely different.

  • DILEMMA | When does life for a young and gay person begin?

DILEMMA | When does life for a young and gay person begin?

    Dear Uncle,

I’m 16 and I just wanna know when it gets better. I’m subscribed to a bunch of TikToks of cute gay couples and guys who look like they are having an amazing time, but I don’t match. I feel fat and ugly and that no one is going to want me. All my classmates around me are pairing up with each other, but that’s not going to happen for me, there’s no one gay around and I feel quite alone and down about life rn.

Just want to know when it starts to get better?

    Justin

    Dear Justin,

It would be so easy for me to say, “all in good time, Justin”, but that doesn’t help you right now. Being 16 means that you can feel adult enough to make your own decisions, but legally you’re kinda stuck in education and at home, which can suck, especially if you feel you’re the only LGBT+ person in the class. Although I can say with almost certainty that you won’t be.

So, I would suggest making a few quick searches for local LGBT+ groups for young people in your area. You might be surprised to find that there are a lot of groups out there.

If you’re not sure, it might be worth finding the website or social media profile of your local pride event. They should have lots of info about what’s going on in the area. Another good place to start might be the Allsorts Youth Project.

    FOMO for young LGBT+ people

young and gay people can feel left out of normal interactions at school
Photo by Jean-Baptiste Burbaud on Pexels.com

On to the FOMO that you have about other couples. Let’s be clear, guys and couples who upload their 30-second videos of TikToks or Snap are curating an ideal for their fans to watch. Lives aren’t perfect… And people only ever show their followers the best bits, the highlights. What do you suppose happens in the 23hours 59 minutes and 30 seconds when they’re not tik tokking?

What I’m saying is don’t believe everything you see coming out of your screen.

    Dating at school

Because high school life can feel it is centred around heteronormative activities, young LGBT+ people can really feel like they’re missing out.

As for getting a boyfriend, there’s no rush, weirdly these things tend to happen when you least expect them to. Please don’t feel that just because other people are dating and pairing up that you need to. Go at the pace that’s right for you, not the pace you think you should be going. There’s a huge difference and it can cause a huge amount of pressure and stress for you.

  • Apparently, guys with a small penis size earn the most money

Apparently, guys with a small penis size earn the most money

If it’s swinging between your knees you could be earning nearly 30 GRAND less than a guy with a smaller dong

Good news for guys with smaller penises, you’re likely to be earning way much more than your bigger donged brethren, according to new research.

A new study by OneBuy.com found that guys with the smallest schlongs around 3 inches in length earned on average £30,000 more than those with the biggest, in this case, those who are swinging in at around 8+ inches.

Now, for clarification, the numbers of guys who admitted to having a penis size of 3 inches was just 2%, while 3% said they had a penis size over 8 inches. However, their earnings were vastly different.

    [totalpoll id=”124541″]

Well hung doesn’t mean well off

Guys who said they had 3 inches earned on average £58,000 while those who had more than eight inches earned around £27,000.

Men with an average size between 5 and 6 inches earned between £36,000 and £32,000 respectively.

Oh, and most guys who measured in smallest worked in banking and finance, (7%) while the bigger lads most likely worked in the arts (5%).

    Smaller guys get promoted more?

    Getting promoted more

According to the research guys with smaller dicks also had more promotions at work with at least 2 advancements in the last year for those just measuring between 3 and 4 inches. Guys who packed more than 8 inches only had 0.5 promotions.

OnBuy.com surveyed 997 men across the UK asking them their penis length, job role and salary. OnBuy were then able to assess the data and see correlations between penis length and salary, as well as which job sectors had the highest proportions of large, average, and small penises.

Small penis guys are winning at life

Remarking on the find, Sexpert Jack Devon said, “It’s really interesting that guys with smaller dicks are winning when it comes to the office, the research might suggest that they work harder to impress their peers and bosses with their work efforts, compared to guys with bigger cocks.

“One possible explanation is that guys who have smaller penises can often feel inadequate, because of pressures from the media and porn to have a large appendage, so maybe they feel they need to make up for it in other ways. Regardless, when it comes to penis size, it really doesn’t matter what you have between your legs. After all, your brain and imagination are the only limits when it comes to the bedroom.

“There are loads of ways to enjoy a smaller penis and don’t forget everyone actually wants an anaconda when it comes to sex. There are even some guys who lie about their larger penises because they felt fetishised

What is the average penis size?

    Ⓒ BEL AMI

Did you know there’s a different average penis size for most countries around the world and the difference between the biggest penis and the smallest penis is just a couple of inches? However, the average dick size worldwide still comes right bang slap in the middle of those two numbers.

The longest average erect penises are apparently in the African country of the Democratic Republic of the Congo who’s men are packing an average of 7.1 inches (18.03 cms) and the smallest apparently are in North Korea with 3.8 inches (9.65 cms)

The UK came in at exactly 5.5 inches (13.9 cms) for the average schlong, while the USA came in at 5.2 inches (13.2 cms), according to the research.

The average girth according to research by the British Journal of Urology International is 4.3 inches (10.92 cms).

Those figures were come to (no pun intended) by studying the cocks of around 17,000 men.

  • Lord who likened gay marriage to bestiality faces 18-month suspension for homophobic bullying

Lord who likened gay marriage to bestiality faces 18-month suspension for homophobic bullying

Lord Maginnis who is an Independent Ulster Unionist, is facing suspension from the Lords after an inquiry found that he had bullied three MPs and one security guard, using anti-gay language.

The Lords Conducts Committee has recommended an 18-month suspension, which is one of the longest ever handed down and will come into effect if it is voted for by Lords on the 7th December.

An inquiry into the Lord’s behaviour found that there were a series of complaints brought against Lord Maginnis in early 2020.

First, there was a report from a parliamentary security officer, Christian Bombolo, who reported that the Maginnis was “verbally abusive” after he was requested to show his pass to enter the Palace of Westminster on 7 January.

Scottish National Party MP Hannah Bardell intervened and says that she was treated “rudely and aggressively”.

On 11 February, Lord Maginnis apparently became “agitated” during a meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Armed Forces when not called upon to ask a question. He apparently addressed “rude remarks” to the meeting’s chair, Labour MP Luke Pollard.

The 82-year-old Lord then complained about Mr Pollard via email sent to a number of parliamentarians – including the APPG chair, Conservative MP James Gray. The email apparently contained a “homophobic subject line” allegedly, “Discrimination by Homos” and contained “remarks about Mr Pollard which centred on his sexual orientation and were homophobic”.

Lord Maginnis later discussed the incident with the media, using “disrespectful and derogatory” language about Mr Bombolo and “homophobic and derogatory” language about Ms Bardell.

Labour MP Toby Perkins asked Lord Maginnis what had happened, and claimed that the peer answered by being “homophobic, aggressive and disrespectful, including by making further homophobic remarks” about Mr Pollard and Ms Bardell, the inquiry found.

A few weeks later on 4 March, Lord Maginnis was embroiled in a “heated discussion” with Mr Gray at an APPG breakfast meeting after he was told he couldn’t attend due to his behaviour towards Mr Pollard.

In a normal workplace Lord Maginnis would be “shown the door”

Speaking about the potential 18-month ban, Ms Bardell said,

“I appreciate that an 18-month ban is a serious sanction and that Lord Maginnis’s return to the House of Lords will be dependent upon him undertaking ‘a designated course of bespoke behaviour change training and coaching’,” said the Livingston MP.

“However I consider it likely that if this had happened in any normal workplace in the UK and someone behaved in such a systematically abusive, bullying and homophobic way, which the report clearly states he has, they would be shown the door.”

The report said that the recommended suspension of 18-months, the longest ever dished out, should not finish until Maginnis has completed behaviour change training showing that he is “able to demonstrate a clear understanding of how his behaviour impacts on other people in the parliamentary community”.

Lord Maginnis has a history of unacceptable behaviour and comments towards LGBT+ people

In June 2012 the Ulster Unionist Party whip was withdrawn from Lord Maginnis by party leader Mike Nesbit over his anti-gay remarks, where Lord Maginnis likened gay marriage to bestiality on Northern Ireland’s Stephen Nolan Show. Lord Maginnis said that gay marriage was, ‘a rung on the ladder’ to ‘other deviant practices’ and ‘Will the next thing be that we legislate for some sort of bestiality?’

In 2012, Lord Maginnis was nominated by Stonewall for the Bigot Of The Year award and when approached by THEGAYUK for a comment he called the outlet an, “aggressive, perverse and corrupting influence on susceptible and vulnerable young people”.

FILM REVIEW | County Lines – Drug dealing is hard work

    Rating: 4 out of 5.

Henry Blake, in his debut as director and writer, gives us an intimate and moving portrait of a young man groomed into the drug trade.

In County Lines, we meet Tyler (Conrad Khan), who lives at home with his single mother Toni (a very good Ashley Madekwe) and his little sister Briony (Shauna Sim). Tyler is a disaffected youth in east London, and at 14 is the man of the house. His mother has a hard time making ends meet, and also has a hard time getting Tyler to open up. Tyler is just going through the motions at school, couldn’t care either way about it, nor about the men his mom brings home. But one day he meets the good-looking and sharp-dressed Simon (Harris Dickinson).

Simon offers Tyler the opportunity to make money, money much needed in his cash strapped home to pay the bills. Soon enough, Tyler gets sucked into the world of drug-running – delivering drugs and collecting money – but it all comes at a risk, not just from the authorities but from other dealers in the business as well. But Tyler gets in way too deep, but will the new trainers and extra money be worth the risk?

Khan is just about perfect as the young man who wants to do right by his family and takes an opportunity he sees as too good to be true. Khan, a veteran of many films, including The Huntsman and The Passenger, has an amazingly expressive face. Madekwe also just about perfect as his struggling mom, while Dickinson (Beach Rats) is good as always. Director Blake pulls us into Tyler’s bleak world from the start – it’s an amazing debut from Blake – who originally created this film as a short – nominated for the Best British Short Film Award at the London Short Film Festival last year.

County Lines is released in cinemas and digitally on BFI Player and Curzon Home Cinema on 4 December

  • This dating site for small penis guys is apparently a hit with gay and bi guys

This dating site for small penis guys is apparently a hit with gay and bi guys

SMALL PENIS? Great things come in small packages

A dating app designed for guys with smaller penises has become an unexpected hit with the gay and bi male community according to its creators.

Nearly one-quarter of the guys who have registered on the app identify as gay or bisexual. The app, which is called Dinky Ones was only launched in March 2020 and has already had over 100,000 men join.

According to the app’s founder, David Minns, Dinky One has registered nearly 25,000 gay or bi men registered and over 800 of them log in every day.

For the super nerdy, they swapped 1955 messages.

    All about normalising penis size

Of course, penis size is a source of great discussion on gay dating apps, like Grindr and Scuff and many guys have a warped sense of what is normal when it comes to penis size, thanks to media and unrealistic porn scenes. Our sexpert Jack Devon told us, “Penises come in all shapes and sizes and most of them are smaller than you think, as gay men we tend to watch a lot of gay porn, which usually has two or more penises involved, but guys who work in porn tend to have larger cocks – which gives us a warped perception of what is actually average”.

Dinky Ones says, “In addition, the internet is packed with false claims and products to increase penis size. Many young men now think that you need a 12-inch penis to satisfy your partner. This is simply not the case and our dating site is here to normalise the situation.”

    [totalpoll id=”124541″]

    Big market for small penises

This dating app isn’t the only business marketed towards guys who have smaller penises (or their admirers), no, there’s also a small penis festival and there could be a range of other services as guys become more comfortable with whatever size they’re packing, even if they have a micropenis.

What is the average penis size and what is a small penis?

    what is a small penis?

According to research conducted in 2015, the average penis size worldwide is around 5.5 inches (13.9 cms) when fully erect and according to the research, the UK’s men are exactly in that spot – so the average erect penis size for men in the UK is 5.5 inches.

    [totalpoll id=”126197″]

The average girth according to research by the British Journal of Urology International is 4.3 inches (10.92 cms).

  • Should I clean my sex toys after using them?

Should I clean my sex toys after using them?

You should definitely be cleaning your sex toys after use, particularly if the toys you are using are up-the-butt toys.

You see, your ass, even after douching is still filled with bacteria and germs that you won’t want sitting around on a toy’s surface, laying in your bottom drawer over a period of time.

This could lead to nasty stomach upsets and illness.

You may also find that any lube residue left on your toy could melt it between uses. Yes, this happens – all depending on what material your toy is made from and the type of lube you used.

So it’s best to clean your toys after each usage.

    Water or Toy Cleaner?

Should I use a toy cleaner to clean my sex toys?

You can buy a special sex toy cleaner – our partner shop sells a range of these, or you can use warm soapy water. We particularly recommend the Bathmate Clean Misting Toy Cleaner, which is really easy to use, simply wipe off any debris (you know what we mean!) mist it with the cleaner, rub it in and then rise off.

If you use a toy cleaner, you’ll also be disinfecting it, killing off all those nasty bacteria.

Make sure when cleaning your toy, that you clean out all of the ridges and if it’s a realistic dildo, make sure you clean around the head and all of the veins.

    Using condoms on your toys

Using a condom on your toy when you use it will mean that you won’t need to wash it as thoroughly, but it is advisable to give it a wipe down to get rid of any chemicals that transfer from the inside of a condom to your toy.

    Storing your toy

Once you’ve clean your toy, dry it off with a towel until it’s perfectly dry and if it came with a protective pouch, insert it back in there.

If it didn’t come with a pouch, an old sock will work just as well.

Inserting it into a sock or pouch protects the toy’s material coming into contact with other toys – which can cause them to melt as some materials even react with other materials.

It isn’t pretty and can get quite expensive.

    Penis toys and masturbators

If your toy is for penis play, like a Fleshjack or even the Satifyer Men’s Wand (pictured above) you should still give it a good clean after use. If you’ve jizzed over or in your toy, you won’t want to find it, next time you come to use it, covered with stale, crispy semen… Or may you do… But to ensure the longevity of your toy, it’s best to clean it after each use.

Oh yeah, if you’re wondering how to get rid of semen stains – particularly on clothes or towels, read this.

  • Will gay saunas be able to open after lockdown?

Will gay saunas be able to open after lockdown?

The second lockdown in England has in no doubt been tough for many businesses, but even more so for businesses that serve the LGBT community, like gay saunas and LGBT bars

Gay bars that don’t serve food, which is a vast majority of them, have been forced to close in Tier 2 and Tier 3 areas and all businesses except “essential” shops have been closed for nearly a month during the last lockdown, due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic.

Gay saunas have been no exception. While some were able to reopen after the first lockdown eased, many, particularly in London never reopened.

So after this latest lockdown will gay saunas be able to open from the 2nd December?

According to sources, Spas and Saunas across England will be permitted to reopen again from the 2nd of December, provided the area which they serve doesn’t end up in Tier 3.

Rules in the devolved nations will be slightly different.

Spas in England will be in no doubt be in touch with their local Environment Health Office for the all-clear. However, it is thought that if an area is in Tier 1 or Tier 2 that gay bathhouses and saunas should be allowed to reopen, although there may be some restrictions on capacity and restrictions on some of the facilities.

Club Zeus in Mansfield told its customers, “We aren’t totally sure of the full restrictions yet, but according to officials, Saunas and Spas can re-open across the UK from December 2nd.”

Many businesses are planning to reopen come the 2nd December, but life will be far from normality until Spring of 2021 when it is hoped that a full roll-out of an anti-COVID vaccination will be made available to the UK’s population.

How gay saunas coped in the Tier system

Some saunas were able to reopen in England, however, it seemed as most gay saunas in London never actually reopened. The Number 52 sauna in Newcastle came up with an ingenious way of staying open for business, by becoming a cafe for a short period. It told it’s customers, “Our venue has been responsibly adjusted in accordance with current government guidelines. We have installed seating throughout, adapting the venue into a Cafe & Bar.

“We’ve got alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, teas, coffees and we’ll also be serving food and snacks. Take this opportunity to see Number 52 in a different way.

Do you have to wear a face mask while inside a gay sauna?

Photo by Anna Shvets on Pexels.com

The law isn’t clear on whether you have to wear a face mask in a spa or sauna and there are health implications of wearing a mask inside hot spaces, such as a sauna or steam room.

As most bathhouses would be classed as a health spa, it would most likely be impractical to wear a face-covering during your visit, however, it’s best to follow the policy of the sauna/spa that you’re visiting.

Saunas along with bars and restaurants will be required by law to take your contact details for the government’s track and trace system. A system that allows up to 35 companies, organisations and government departments access to your contact details.

However, in line with data protection guidelines, your details must be deleted after 21 days.

  • BBC issues apology for misappropriating the red ribbon on World AIDS Days

The Twitter team behind BBC North released an apology that many are calling unacceptable.

In the tweet the BBC North West team, said,

“We have deleted a tweet about our project to pay tribute to COVID victims. Given we have used red ribbons as part of it, we understand why some people found it insensitive on World AIDS Day. We’re sorry.

“We have been working closely with those who have lost loved ones to COVID and this initiative is to remember those who have died during the pandemic.”

bbc apology for tree of lives and using red ribbon

What happened for the BBC to have to apologise?

The row started after the BBC announced it had created a project to commemorate lost lives from COVID in the North West, except they used a red ribbon, a symbol for the lives lost due to AIDS and which has been in use since 1991. The other element that truly upset people, was the date on which they decided to announce the project, the 1st of December, globally known as World AIDS Day.

    “Unacceptable”

The apology was branded a “non-apology” by many and an insult to the millions of lives lost to AIDS.

The apology was dismissed as fakery by many, including user Chris who blasted the BBC newsroom’s apology as “Utter fakery”.

    https://twitter.com/ChrisOfDevon/status/1333936937254653953

One user also commented on the disrespect of misappropriating well-known LGBT+ symbols in 2020.

“At the end of a year in which the rainbow flag was ‘borrowed’ to celebrate the NHS and even gay publications were promoting anti-trans lobbying groups, today of all days is not a good moment to misappropriate the red ribbon”

    https://twitter.com/Dutch_editor/status/1333901451115028484

This is the second symbol appropriated from the LGBT+ community in 2020. The Pride rainbow flag which was designed by Gilbert Baker in 1979 became synonymous with the NHS and COVID-19 during the early months of the pandemic in the UK.

Another added that the 1st of December should be left to “remembering, mourning, and celebrating the lives of a near generation of queer people…”
