    Bourne Free announces 2021 date and theme

    The organisers of Dorset’s largest pride, Bourne Free have announced the dates of Pride 2021 and the theme, vowing to come back stronger after 2020’s event had to be cancelled due to Covid-19.

    Bournemouth’s pride event, Bourne Free will take place once again in 2021, and the dates have been announced as the 9th and 10th July 2021 with the theme,  ‘Stronger Together – Celebrating Our Emergency Services & All Key Workers’.

    The Pride will also move from its normal home of the gardens to Meyrick Park, Bournemouth.

    Benjamin Horgan, Chair of Bourne Free, said –

    “All the Bourne Free Trustees have been blown away by the many stories of courage and hope that we’ve seen over the last few months.”

    We want our 2021 Bourne Free Weekend to be an opportunity to recognise the people who are making a difference to our community; from NHS workers and carers to bus drivers, supermarket workers, posties and the unpaid volunteers who’ve given their time willingly. Come dressed to impress as your favourite key worker. From scrubs to uniforms, tabards to overalls and everything in-between to celebrate our real life heroes!

    Bournemouth is to play host to its 13th annual pride event, Bourne Free.

    what time does Bournemouth Pride start,

    Here’s everything you need to know about one of South England’s biggest pride festivals, Bourne Free.

    This year’s Bourne Free is set to take part from the 30th June and the 2nd July and will centre around two areas, the lower gardens near Bournemouth’s seafront and The Triangle. As always, the organisers have chosen a theme for the festival and this year’s theme is Superheroes.

    Where does the Parade start?

    The Bourne Free parade,  is free to watch and starts on East Overcliff Drive.

    Once the parade begins it travels down Bath Road, onto Westover Road, onto Hinton, Yelverton, St, Stephen’s Braidley, Bourne Avenue on to Avenue Road and finally ending at Bournemouth’s famous Triangle.

    What time does the Bournemouth Pride start?

    The beginning time of the parade is 11:00 AM on East Overcliff Drive, BH1 3AF. The route takes an hour.

    Where is everything happening?

    During the Saturday, the main events take place in the Lower Gardens and in the Triangle.

    In the Lower Gardens, there will be stalls and entertainment from the bandstand from 12:30 until 4:30 PM and is hosted once again by Lea Martin and is joined by the drag queen, Sheila Tackya.

    On Saturday night entertainment moves to The Triangle and requires wristbands.

    The triangle will the epicentre of entertainment on Saturday night with entertainment provided by singer, Heather Small, Livin’ Joy, Phats and Small, DJ Brandon Block and House power vocalist Angie Brown.

    You need a wristband to enter the Triangle on Saturday night. You can buy them at the entrance.

    There’s an adult Panto in Bournemouth… Oh Yes There Is!

    Panto season’s over? “Oh No It Isn’t”! Following on from last year’s hugely successful run of Sleeping Beauty, Bournemouth’s first ever alternative panto, the cast are at it again only this time they’re getting to grips with Jack’s Stalk.

    The wonderful Bourne Free (Bournemouth Pride) team in association with Over The Rainbow charity, who help with all sexual health issues, are pleased to see the return of some of their beloved stars from last year, including: Lucinda Lashes (Ben), Paul Lawrence Thomas (Cosmic), Cassie (Lea Martin), Cassidy Connors (Wesley Sebastian), Richard Facer and Jason Burch.

    It seems the stalk is not the only thing getting bigger though down in Bournemouth as two new stars, Sheila Tackya (Xchange Club Hostess) and Vielida Moppe (UK Drag Idol winner 2016), will be joining the panto family who, due to popular demand last year, will be offering a much longer run.

  • Pride In Bournemouth Today – Bourne Free

    It’s looking to be a beautiful day in sunny Bournemouth for the 10th BourneFree LGBT Pride.

    So if you’re looking for something to do today that’s proud, we suggest you head on over to Bournemouth to celebrate Pride.

    The parade will be starting at East Cliff at 11:00am and finish at 12:00PM the full postcode is: East Cliff, Bournemouth BH1 3AF.

    As BourneFree is celebrating 10 years, the theme for the year is Decades.

    So come join us on Saturday 12th July from 11AM to watch an array of Floats, Busses & Walking Groups, fabulously decked out in our decades theme, parade through Bournemouth Town Centre. With 26 groups (43 sections in total) this years parade is promising to be our largest yet. For those who would like to be in the parade who are not part of an organised entry we have a large rainbow flag that needs to be carried along the route, just turn up by 10:50AM at the parade starting point on East Overcliff Drive (BH1 3AN). Bring water a smile and be ready to have lots of fun.

    Then it moves on to the triangle where you can see the likes of Misha B, Damage and Kimberley Watts. Wristbands are required for the triangle, these can be bought at the door for £10.
