Piers Morgan called “cis” and it went as well as you’d imagine

Once again, the team at GMB decided to tackle Trangender issues following on from JK Rowling’s new book, Troubled Blood about a crossing dressing killer.

Over the weekend, the author’s new book stoked a huge backlash on social media, with #RIPJKRowling become a worldwide trend, after transgender activists took issue with the book’s concept.

Piers and Suzanna were hosting a debate on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning, about the public’s reaction to JK’s new book and who should have the right to write about books where the main character was transgender.

GMB booked Benjamin Butterworth (again) to speak about issues surrounding identity politics (because clearly there’s no one else to talk to about transgender issues…) and was answering a question on whether Piers would be able to write a book about a transgender killer, which Benjamin thought might be a problematic concept.

When pushed by Piers to see if it would be okay for him to write about a “person like me” doing all the killing, Benjamin answered, that there were a lot of “cis, rich white men…”

This is when Piers pushed back on the language used by Benjamin saying, “I’m not cis. Don’t call me cis. I’m a white guy. Just call me a white guy.

“Cis is language you use that I don’t even understand.”

We’re not entirely sure why Piers Morgan gets so upset up about gender politics, especially as he does (or has, we can never keep up) identify as a penguin.

  • Piers Morgan is totally owned after saying he is a “long-time vocal supporter of gay rights”

Piers Morgan is totally owned after saying he is a “long-time vocal supporter of gay rights”

After labelling a Pride train, ‘Virtue Signalling’ Piers Morgan said that he was a “long-time vocal supporter of gay rights” except, history proves that this isn’t necessarily the case.

Morgan was called out by the Royal Vauxhall Tavern’s Twitter page after he labelled a train, which was decorated in Pride colours, the “Virtue Signalling Express” and asked “Why” when the train was unveiled.

    (ITV)

The RVT Twitter page wrote, “The thing is, Piers, when you tweet stuff like this your followers then feel emboldened to openly attack LGBTQ+ people in the replies and in the street. Yet you stay silent. Your silence speaks volumes.”

Piers wrote that he thought the train was ridiculous

Piers Morgan replied, that it was “it’s perfectly possible to be a long-time vocal supporter of gay rights – like me – AND think a gay train is ridiculous.”

    Owned

However, the RVT was quick to reply with a newspaper article which was was printed by The Sun in 1989. In the article, it appears that Piers calls the two gay characters on Eastenders, “Yuppie Poofs”.

Further on in the article, readers were invited to ring in on the question “Do you think TV should show scenes of men kissing each other?

The article was in relation to the first-ever gay kiss on the BBC soap, which was groundbreaking at the time.

Lord Cashman, who starred in that Eastender‘s scene, also commented on Piers’ history as a journalist, saying, “Just look at his history as a journalist and the coverage of gay issues in the late 80s. He is a fair-weather ‘friend’, and as the weather turns so friends reveal themselves!”

  • Piers Morgan labels the new ‘Pride train’ as “Virtue Signal Express”

Piers Morgan labels the new ‘Pride train’ as “Virtue Signal Express”

It seems as though Piers Morgan has been triggered by a pride flag-covered train, after calling it a “virtue signal”.

Transport company, Avanti West Coast, recently unveiled a train covered in a Pride flag (one that includes the trans and black and brown stripes) and were asking for Twitter users to come up with a name for what they’ve dubbed the ‘Pride train’.

Piers Morgan responded with “THE VIRTUE-SIGNALLING EXPRESS’, which started a massive Twitter backlash against the train’s design, with Morgan’s fans piling on criticism of the train company.

One user, wrote, “We don’t want a bloody rainbow train or rainbow police cars – It just makes more people turn against the idea of Pride when they see money wasted on this virtue signalling. Can we be clear, WE did not ask for this, we are being used for publicity.”

While another added, “I’m gay and this makes me cringe”.

One user questioned the motives of the train company for unveiling the flag, saying,

“Piers is not being anti-LGBT here or begrudging the community of their train or validity of PRIDE, but questioning the motives of a commercial enterprise…..so let’s keep our heads on eh? This is branding!!! We should be questioning their motives. Better spent on our charities.”

Some users said that they approved of the train’s colourings. One user wrote, “I think it’s fantastic, it’s nice to smile & see a bit of colour in what has been a terrible year”.

What should they call the pride train?

There have already been many serious naming suggestions for the pride train, from Marsha (to celebrate the LGBT+ icon Marsha P Johnson, who would have been 75 this year) to Alan Turing, the scientist whose widely credited for bringing a swifter end to World World II with his code-breaker. But one of our favourites from @yagsieoj is LIL, which stands for Love Is Love.

  • NOOOO! Cher is apparently the third most negative tweeter

NOOOO! Cher is apparently the third most negative tweeter

Lockdown has generated a lot of negative tweets. About people, governments and society in general.

A recent study of over 100 celebrities who run and maintain their own Twitter accounts has found that two of our favourite gay icons top the lists of positive and negative tweeters.

While Kylie sits on top of the positive list, with 89.7 per cent of her tweets skewing positive, Cher (gawd love her) is number 3 on the negative list, with only 51.3 per cent of her tweets skewing positively, she follows Nigel Farage and Piers Morgan.

Nigel Farage and Piers Morgan were the most negative celebrity tweeters during lockdown.

A study conducted by Sheffield-based digital agency Evoluted has revealed the most positive and negative celebrity tweeters during the lockdown period.

Research (www.evoluted.net/studies/lockdown-lovers-and-loathers/) revealed that Kylie Minogue has been the most positive tweeter, closely followed by Sir Tom Jones and Lionel Richie, amongst others.

Meanwhile, Nigel Farage tops the polls for the most negative tweeter under lockdown, joined by Piers Morgan and Cher.

The research was conducted by digital agency Evoluted, who took the 200 most famous personalities in the UK (according to YouGov) and filtered the list down to 131 who are active on Twitter and clearly run their accounts personally.

The agency then collected their tweets, quoted tweets and retweets that had been posted since March this year in order to evaluate the content that the person was putting out to all of their followers.

Evoluted then used the bing lexicon method to attribute positive or negative meaning to the words used across all tweets, in order to analyse which tweeters were more positive than others.

A positivity percentage was then assigned to each account – this was created by taking the ratio of positive words used on their timeline by the total number of negative and positive words.

James Stone, Content Specialist at Evoluted, said, “We aim to be as thorough and accurate as possible within our research and our team really enjoyed carrying out this study.

“It’s extremely interesting to see which celebrities are using their platforms to display positivity and which ones heavily feature negativity.”

Research also ranked the jobs of the most positive celebrities, revealing that sports personalities, musicians, TV personalities, actors and public figures made up the top five.

Piers Morgan apologises after referring to Sam Smith as a “he”

Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan has reached out to Sam Smith after using the wrong pronouns for the singer. In a tweet Piers’s referred to Sam as “he”

Piers Morgan was criticising Sam Smith after the star took part in a menswear fashion campaign – after coming out as gender non-conforming last month.

In his original Tweet Piers wrote, “Mr Smith came out as a gay man 5yrs ago, then as non-binary gender neutral 6 weeks ago, now he’s advertising ‘Man’s Concept Menswear’. It’s hard to keep up!”

However, Piers was called out for “misgendering” Sam Smith – with many taking exception to Piers using the pronouns “he”.

Sam Smith asked that people use “they, them and theirs”.

Piers offered an apology directly to Smith saying,

“CORRECTION: ‘their’ & ‘they’. My sincere apologies to @samsmith for misgendering him as male after he advertised ‘Man’s Concept Menswear.’

However, Piers still used “him” and “he”.

  • Piers Morgan cleared by OfCom over gender identity views

Piers Morgan cleared by OfCom over gender identity views

    (ITV)

He “has a right to express his views”

Piers Morgan has been cleared by Ofcom after nearly 1000 complaints were made against him over his views on gender identity.

The two-spirit penguin, also known as Piers Morgan, who presents ITV’s morning show, Good Morning Britain was ruled to have behaved within guidelines, with the communication’s regulator saying that his remarks about identifying as a penguin “did not raise issues warranting investigation”.

It added that he had the right to express his strongly held beliefs.

The regulator did allow, in its initial investigation that some viewers of the early morning show, could be offended by his comments, but that the regular audience of the ITV show would have “clear expectations around his provocative position on the issue”.

His co-host was singled out for complaint

His co-host Susanna Reid was criticised by Ofcom for not challenging Piers enough on his views.

A gleeful Piers said, “The only person singled out for complaint is actually not me… it’s Susanna.”

Susanna replied, “He gets exonerated and I get criticised!”

Piers Morgan calls PinkNews “disingenuous click-baiting little twerps”

Piers Morgan has lashed out against PinkNews after it published an article about a petition calling on ITV execs to remove him from his presenting position on Good Morning Britain for “dehumanising” people from the transgender and non-binary community.

In a series of fiery tweets, Piers blasted the news site as “disingenuous” and clickbaity after it published a piece about a petition which called for the GMB anchor to be fired from his presenting position on the ITV morning show.

He also blasted the site for “spreading dangerous bullsh*t” and reiterated that they were shameless little clickbaiters

At the time of PinkNews’s first article, calling for his dismissal, around 6000 people had signed the petition calling on ITV to end its contract with Piers Morgan.

The petition has since swelled to around 13,000 signatures.

    “Dehumansing”

Piers is accused by the petitioners of “dehumanising” some transgender and non-binary people with his line of questioning of non-binary guests and his dismissal of the notion that there are over 100 different gender identities, Piers is currently identifying as a “2 spirit penguin”.

However, Piers claims that he supports those people who transition and that he is a loud supporter of gay rights.

The presenter added, “I don’t support the ridiculous notion of 100 genders, and most sensible people agree with me.”

    People actually like Piers

In response to the initial petition calling on Piers to be fired, is another, calling on ITV to back the presenter which has now surpassed the original with over 26,000 signatures.

  • Piers Morgan’s “trans slender” Tweet was GMB’s most popular post

Piers Morgan’s “trans slender” Tweet was GMB’s most popular post

ITV digital bosses admitted that Piers Morgan identifying as skinny was its most successful post in April, with over 1.6 million engagements.

    (ITV)Piers

Back in April Piers Morgan said that he identified as skinny and apparently the accompanying social media post on Twitter sent users into a “frenzy” according to ITV’s digital team for Good Morning Britain, which sent an all staffer email to highlight the digital engagement.

Piers posted a Tweet in which he called himself “trans slender”, whilst announcing during a live broadcast, on Good Morning Britain saying that he was identifying as a skinny person.

GMB tweeted the news, highlighting it as an “exclusive announcement”.

According to the email, over 1.6 million people engaged with the post generating over 10,000 comments, shares and retweets. Digital bosses highlighted the engagement in bold red, to show off how significant the digital reach was for the programme.

Piers celebrated the news by tweeting “Trans-slender power”.

At the time, Piers was criticised for saying that he identified as skinny, with TV’s Doctor Ranj calling him out saying that the jokes said by Piers could be harmful to vulnerable people. The Strictly Come Dancing star implored Piers, as a medical professional to stop doing it – a request that didn’t go down too well with the ever outspoken Piers.

In his response to Dr Ranj, Piers wrote, “Hi Ranj, I am getting a little tired of humourless ‘woke’ berks like you telling me what gender-related jokes I can & can’t make on TV for entertainment… I implore you: PLEASE don’t do it.”

  • Lord Sugar blasted for “casual homophobia” in Piers Morgan jibe

Lord Sugar blasted for “casual homophobia” in Piers Morgan jibe

Lord Sugar has been accused of “casual homophobia” after ‘gay elephant’ jibe.

After Piers Morgan asked his Twitter following whether elephants could be gay, but Alan Sugar couldn’t help but respond. His response missed the mark, however, and was met with condemnation from some followers.

Piers Morgan tweeted, “Genuine question: are there gay elephants?” to which the Apprentice star responded in front of his 5.3 million followers, “Good question they have good memory, That is why they followed you when you went on Safari in South Africa”

While some were offended by the remark, calling the tweet an example of ‘casual homophobia’ others commented on the laziness of the joke, with one writing, “by all means attempt a gay joke, we wont be offended as long as its witty or clever. This offends me simply because its [sic] beyond dull”.

Others weren’t so impressed with the tweet, calling the businessman out on what they called “casual homophobia”.

This isn’t the first time Sugar has been accused of homophobia, last year he was slammed after saying that he had had enough “puffs” in his boardroom. Twitter users were quick to call out the Tweet as homophobic and bigoted living the billionaire businessman having to explain that the tweet was “a bloody joke” and that puffs was not a homophobic slur.

  • Piers Morgan wants us all to have gay sex in the Sultan of Brunei’s hotels

Piers Morgan wants us all to have gay sex in the Sultan of Brunei’s hotels

As Brunei enacts a law that will punish the act of gay sex by stoning to death, Piers Morgan rails against a boycott of the Sultan of Brunei’s hotels.

Taking to his Daily Mail column, Piers Morgan has asked that we don’t boycott the Sultan of Brunei’s hotels, instead turn them into huge orgies of gayness, colour and pride.

His plea comes as Brunei enacts a law which will see any man found guilty of having gay sex stoned to death.

While some celebs like Ellen DeGeneres, Elton John and George Clooney have called for a boycott of Sultan owned hotels, such as The Dorchester in London and The Beverly Hills in Los Angeles, Piers has asked every LGBT person to fill the hotels with gay abandon and filling the Sultan’s hotels with lots of gay sex.

    He writes,

“Rather than stay away, let’s go the other way and flood the Sultan of Bigotry’s hotels with as many gay people as can possibly fit inside them”.

“I urge wealthy gay men and women to buy up every room, book every table for breakfast, lunch and dinner; reserve every reception suite for private parties, work receptions, meetings and charity fundraisers; take every appointment at every spa; fill up the gyms, preferably in bright pink lycra; mill around the pools dressed like Perez Hilton; demand Diana Ross’s ‘I’m Coming Out’ is played on a 24-hour loop in every lobby.

“Oh, and let’s have at least three gay weddings a day, every day, every month, in every hotel. Make the Sultan of Bigotry’s collection a magnificent monument to gay marriage.

“In short, I urge the gay people of the world to rise up and hit him where it will REALLY hurt him: his reputation”

    “Humiliated”

Piers continued, “Imagine how humiliated and small he would feel if his hotels became the very epicentre of gay pride and culture; if every inch of every place he owns from London to Paris to LA reverberated with joyous celebration of living, breathing, fornicating homosexuality.

One of 13 nations where being gay can get you the death penalty

Brunei has now introduced the horrific punishment as part of the implementation of sharia law and will apply to sodomy, adultery and rape. The law will only apply to the kingdom’s Muslim population which makes up around two-thirds of the demographic.

Alcohol is banned in Brunei and there are punishments for having children outside of marriage. There is also a fine for missing prayer on a Friday.

Brunei is just one of 13 countries where being gay or being guilty of homosexual acts can still land you a death penalty.

    “Vicious”

Amnesty Internation have called the punishment “vicious” and called upon Brunei to “immediately halt” its plans to introduce stoning.
