  • Tom Daley says tape of him stripping is out there

It looks as though Tom Daley could be the latest victim of an online leak after he admitted to The Sun that he had cyber sex with another man.

The Olympic hero Tom Daley has admitted that he sent compromising pictures for an online “romp” with another man according to The Sun, after a video emerged of Tom stripping off. Tom told The Sun that it, “will never happen again” after he rekindled his romance with his fiancé, Dustin Lance Black.

According to reports, Tom had chatted with a guy from Liverpool, who has not be named, during a seven-month secret split from his fiance, Dustin Lance Black. The duo are now back together and have set a date for their wedding.

Fans of the loved-up pair had no idea that the couple had even split. It’s now become apparent that they split for a period of time previous to Tom’s Olympic appearance in Rio 2016 and during the production of Dustin’s latest TV project, When We Rise. Despite the split, Tom’s social media was full of pictures of the two looking happy, leading fans to believe that they were still together.

    He told The Sun,

“It was the two biggest years of our lives work-wise — it was my Olympic year and Lance was filming his mini-series for ABC called When We Rise, and distance can be hard sometimes.

Tom said that he had confessed the online romp to Dustin and insists that he never physically met anyone in real life and that it was all online.

Speaking to The Sun he said,

“I’m 22 years old, and if you talk to someone through social media it is what it is. It was nothing more than that. We never physically met.

“But in the modern world this is what can happen — things are more accessible online, and distributed, and they spread like wildfire.”

The couple is now back on track and preparing for their wedding.

The person who leaked the pictures could find themselves in criminal trouble after then culture minister Ed Vaizey said image owners of leaked social media would be able to sue anyone who released pictures without the consent of the image owner.

We spoke with lawyer, Phil Gorski at Blacks Solicitors last year who told us,

“Last year there was a new piece of legislation introduced, which actually set out the specific crime of revenge porn. There is a specific charge that can be brought and so the option is there and should probably be taken if the information has been distributed to a large number of people.

“What the legislation says is that where you’ve got photographs and the phrasing is, “… of a private or sexual nature …” That doesn’t mean you have to be showing intimate body parts or anything like that. It can be in a sort of context that’s perceived to be sexual.

“If they are disclosed and it’s done without consent and the purpose of disclosing them was to cause distress or embarrassment, which when you think about it, it would be very difficult to not be the case. Then, there’s a potential crime that’s taken place.”

    When We Rise first look

In February a new seven-part mini series premieres in America about the early gay rights movement.

I’ve written about the Stonewall riots before, and this new series focuses on that time period. Written by Tom Daley’s fiance, Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black (who also directed two of the episodes) it is based on true stories of the brave LGBT community members who fought tooth and nail to be heard, and to be accepted. There’s also some big names involved as well, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell, Guy Pierce, Michael K Williams David Hyde Pierce, and Mary Louise Parker, to name just a few.

Dustin Lance Black has always been a strong vocal advocate for the gay rights movement, and it appears with this series he is showing how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go. I for one will be watching it when I can, and I hope with it being on the TV station ABC that it will also appear on Netflix soon after it’s release so UK viewers will have a chance to watch it.

The first trailer has just been released, and I must say I was actually quite choked up after watching it. It really hit home that people had to, and are still going through hell just to be accepted for who they are, and with the divisive US election still fresh in people’s minds, this series is coming at a time when a fresh struggle for our community is upon us. I hope that the younger generation of LGBT folks, will watch the show, and know that the type of freedom they have today is thanks to a generation that endured violence, seething hated and brutality, and who cried out that they had had enough and fought back. I don’t want to waffle on with a big piece so I’ll let the trailer speak for itself, and hope it touches you in the way it touched me.

Dustin Lance Black has a request for the UK

Oscar award winning writer Dustin Lance Black has a request for the UK – he wants us to look after his fiancé as he returns back to the US to finish work.

Tom Daley‘s husband to be, Dustin Lance Black, 41,  has made a special request to the UK – he’s asked that the UK look after his Olympic medalist boyfriend whilst he returns back to the US to finish off working on his latest TV series, When We Rise.

Taking to social media, DLB asked,

Dear UK, please take good care of this one while I’m away finishing#WhenWeRise. Sad to have to go so soon

His new TV series stars, Mary-Louise Parker, Guy Pierce and Rachel Griffiths and is a “chronicled re-telling the gay rights movement in the United States, beginning with the Stonewall riots in 1969,” according to IMDB.

An article posted on the religious ministry, Christian Voice’s website has claimed that diver Tom Daley was “seduced into sodomy” after the death of his father.

The article by Stephen Green argues, a “degree in psychology” isn’t needed to work out why Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black are engaged to be married.

“Tom Daley, he was seduced into sodomy by an older man, not very long after the untimely death of his beloved father.  You don’t need a degree in psychology to work out what’s going on there.”

The pair have been together for three years and announced their plans to get married late last year.

The author was hitting back after his “provocative tweets” about Tom’s performance at this year’s Olympics where he commented that Tom “becoming” gay not helping his diving, led to a surge of traffic to the Christian Voice website.

Mr Green claims that Daley could repent  – and “walk away from the homosexual lifestyle” a journey which Mr Green describes as having been done many times.

“Becoming gay might or might not be a choice.  Staying gay definitely is.  And who knows, by transforming his mind”

The writer also claims that gay people were “hurt” by Tom’s failure to achieve medalist status in his solo event at this year’s Olympics.

“The ‘gays’ are very proud of Daley, his failure has hurt them and any criticism of him as a homosexual is beyond the gay pale.”

Tom Daley did managed to achieve Bronze with his diving partner Dan Goodfellow in the synchronized diving event.

Love birds Dustin Lance Black and Tom Daley set the rumour mill on fire after DLB tweeted something that made their fans suspicious last week.

DLB inadvertently managed to make people believe that the pair, who are engaged to be married, had actually gone ahead with the big day without telling anyone.

Tweeting about watching his fiance diving at the Rio 2016 Olympics last week, the Oscar winning writer said,

“3M Finals with Johnny Chaillot. Watch out #FootballWives, the #DivingHusbands are in the house. #Rio2016 #Diving”

With DLB suggesting that he was a “Diving Husband”, social media went into overdrive speculating that the adorable duo had married – when the world wasn’t looking.

A spokesperson for the pair told The Mirror that it wasn’t true and that the pair weren’t married – yet.

We want first row seats when it happens. In fact scrap that – we want to be the ring bearers.

Oscar winning writer Dustin Lance Black has spoken out about the fear he felt as a young gay man about falling in love with another man.

He revealed that, growing up in a military Mormon household, he feared he would go to hell, get bashed or killed if he fell in love.

He also opened up about the fear, sadness and suicidal thoughts that he had as a younger man as his church heaped negative messages about homosexuality on him.

Speaking to Huffington Post he said,

“I was about 15 years old when I moved to the Bay area. At that point, for eight or nine years, all I’d had were negative messages from the church about going to hell. From the military environment, it’d been made clear that I was definitely somebody to be excluded and, being from the South, that I would bring shame to my family if any body found out.”

“So I thought if I fell in love, I would go to hell, bring shame to my family, be bashed or be killed. That removes the possibility of love from someone’s entire life and replaces it with shame. As a young kid, you start to contemplate solutions for making this living thing shorter, I certainly did, and I know I’m not alone.

“If you look to the LGBT organisations, they’ll tell you that LGBT young people are four times more likely to attempt suicide, and nine times more likely if they come from an unaccepting environment.”

“There were just no hopeful messages.”

“I’d heard about this guy creating a world where it was possibly to be gay. All of a sudden, I realised I’d never heard one thing like that in my entire upbringing,” he remembers.

“That wasn’t an idea that had existed in Texas in the 1980s. I’d never heard that, I’d just seen Rock Hudson on a stretcher, with the message that being gay will make you sick like this.”

However Dustin was able to find hope in his situation when he learned more about the historic gay iconic figure, Harvey Milk.

“I was very lucky to hear the story of Harvey Milk, it was life-saving for me. I wanted to share it in case it helped others, but the story of one gay man isn’t going to do it.”

“Until recently, Hollywood wasn’t there to support a production of easily accessible hero journeys for LGBT people. I think it’s incredibly important for young people who, as they come of age and might start hearing negative messages about who they are, that they also have a history of their forefathers and foremothers that they can draw inspiration from.”

HuffPost UK is turning Loud & Proud. Over the next fortnight, we’ll be celebrating how gay culture has influenced and, in turn, been embraced by all fields of entertainment, inspiring cinema-goers, TV audiences, music-lovers and wider society with its wit, creativity and power of expression.
